OH DEAR GOD! IT’S SO DELICIOUSLY TRAGIC!

PD, you can run that quote through any orifice you want and it still shows Obama saying that mayors actually have to get things done, while those in the senate “yak”.

I’m pretty sure Obama’s quote is about GOOD mayors, not ones that bungle stadium purchases.

As far as I know, he’s never said anything insulting about Palin, or mayors or governors in general.
Unlike conservatives’ snotty remarks about “community organizers”, which they put in quotes as if to suggest that it’s something to be sneered at.

Funny how you have this in reverse. It was Obama’s snide comments to Anderson Cooper about Palin’s role as Mayor (and acting as if she still were just a Mayor and not a Governor) that prompted the retort from Palin and others about about community organizers.

That’s right, Dave. Obama said nice things about small-town mayors. As far as I know, he’s never said anything insulting about Palin, or mayors or governors in general.
Unlike conservatives’ snotty remarks about “community organizers”, which they put in quotes as if to suggest that it’s something to be sneered at.
It’s funny to see conservatives try to make these remarks into a negative for Obama, while simultaneously defending Palin’s cluelessness. And I love to see them trying to portray Katie Couric –COURIC!! — as some kind of attack dog. Like asking “What newspapres do you read?” is a GOTCHA question. And calling out Charlie Gibson for being “condescending”, while praising O’Reilly’s interview with Obama.
You guys slay me. Really.

“We’ve had an awful lot of small town mayors at the Democratic Convention, I assure you,” Obama said. “I meet them all the time. The mayors have some of the toughest jobs in the country because that’s where the rubber hits the road. You know, we yak in the Senate. They actually have to fill potholes and trim trees and make sure the garbage is taken away.”

And note, he’s comparing Palin’s former job with his current one. Maybe he should compare being a governor vs. being one of two senators from a state.

I’m not the one who attributed a McCain quote to Obama, you are.
The full quote from Obama is in PD100’s comment above. It is an intelligent comment given in an interview, praising the work that local government officials do. The question was not “What do Senators do?”, and the answer was not “We yak.”
God, how fucking stubbornly stupid conservatives are. Or do you just act that way to piss me off?
And the only “tingles” I get are down my spine, when I think of President McThuselah dying and being succeeded by Gov. Hockeymom.

I guess when you get tingles down your leg in anticipation of electing your very own “Dear Leader”, his being able to yak is a bonus (with him being a “community organizer” and stuff).

Supporters of the GOP ticket seem to think they can separate the VP and Presidential battles, i.e. make Sen. Biden’s experience and Sen. Obama’s relative inexperience negatives, while making Gov. Palin’s inexperience and Sen. McCain’s experience positives. It’s not gonna fly.
