The Cuba Gap
Tweet
If a Democrat is trending positively in this region of Florida, it is not good news for the GOP ticket. Diaz-Balart is a well known factor down there (his brother used to be an anchor on the local NBC affiliate), and if the Cuban-American community is turning against him it means the GOP just might be losing its grip on those voters. And if they lose those voters, they’ll lose Florida.

I dunno, OW. Cuban-Americans make up a good percentage of the vote in Dade County and the surrounding area, but they’re not as much of a factor in the rest of the state. Nevertheless, all are welcome. Every vote helps.

I think OW was talking about winning Florida in Presidential and Seante races. The Cuban vote is the swing vote in Florida. If the Republicans lose it, they are f-cked!!
What Calvin said. If the GOP loses the Cuban vote in FL, they are screwed. Indications are this year that McCain is underperforming Bush with that demographic (thanks to the GOP’s increased anti-Hispanic bigotry from 2005-present) – which is still a good sign for Dems.
