So, the “um” and “uh” in Sen. Obama’s speech no longer is proof that he’s an inarticulate boob who can’t speak without a teleprompter. That is no longer operative after he beat Sen. McCain in the first debate. And now the excuse is that its a disguise for his radical liberalism and part of his plan to take over the world. Or something.
If all goes according to plan, we’re going to have 4-8 years of this COMEDY GOLD.
(By the way, if you want to hear someone who uses a lot of “um” and “uh” check out Rush Limbaugh. I’ve had to listen to a lot of his audio in the last four years and he has far more stammers than people assume.)
black helicopterdom always in fashion on republican runways
Good grief.
After eight years of defending George W. Bush, conservatives want to make a big deal out of Obama’s way of speaking?
These people have no capacity for embarrassment.
There’s stuttering and stammering because you don’t know what you are talking about, and then there’s pausing because you want to be thoughtful in your choice of words.
Obama is the latter.
So you’re saying God is taking back some of the “talent” He has loaned Rush?
After eight years of defending George W. Bush, conservatives want to make a big deal out of Obama’s way of speaking?
And Sen. Kerry’s wealth was a big deal, but Sen. McCain’s isn’t.
And Sen. McCain’s military service is important, but VP Gore’s and Sen. Kerry’s wasn’t.
And Sen. Kerry’s “flip-flops” were important, but Sen. McCain suddenly and consciously dropping the ‘center’ from ‘center-right’ is not only no big deal, it’s all the better.
And Sen. Biden is too experienced, but Sen. McCain is not. Sen. Obama is too inexperienced, but Gov. Palin is not.
And it’s a Very Bad Idea when Sen. Obama wants to open diplomatic lines with Iran, but it’s generally ignored when the current white house attempts the same.
And… well, yeah. There’s a bit of a pattern.
I’ve had to listen to a lot of his audio in the last four years and he has far more stammers than people assume.
That’s what happens when the state of Florida nicks your Oxycontin supply.
“…a disguise for his radical liberalism and part of his plan to take over the world.”
Yeah, how do you reply to the incantation that Obama’s the “most left-wing radical Democrat in the Senate?” or words to that effect. Like calling someone gay who isn’t. “I’m not, not that I’d be ashamed of it if I were?” Thought he coulda said “Dennis Kucinich, Barbara Boxer and Ted Kennedy might have something to say about that.”
But maybe a public chuckle was/is the best response.
The ums represent thinking before you speak. No-one wants a president who thinks before he acts, becauharihjndhdfn
Actually, there was a *lot* less “um” and “uh” in Obama’s speech Friday night, and having cringed through a lot of it in the Illinois debates in 2004, I was listening for it. Nope, he’s mostly kicked that habit. Ums may be the result of thinking before you speak, but they can get really, really annoying really fast, even if he’s your guy.
I seriously think it really is. Those chuckles are a lethal weapon. A guy so calm and secure that he can just laugh off McCain’s bullshit in a relaxed way is exactly the kind of leader that a lot of scared people are looking for right now. There’s more than enough drama in the news, they don’t want any in the White House adding to it.
The chuckle could be as devestating as “There you go again” was for the Reagan debate. I did however enjoy McCain’s comment about what he saw in Putin’s eyes “Three letters K,G and B”.
Obama has obviously been coached to good effect about the speech patterns.
Apparently McCain’s shiftiness and condescension cannot be coached away.
