They’re almost making this too easy.
The spokeswoman for the Republican Party in Nevada’s most populous county was removed from her post Saturday, after she said the Democratic Party made black people ‘dependent on the government.’
Didi Lima, the Clark County GOP communications director, also was removed from her volunteer role as a Hispanic community liaison for Republican John McCain’s presidential campaign over the remarks made earlier in the day while working at a McCain campaign booth.‘We don’t want (Hispanics) to become the new African-American community,’ Lima told The Associated Press. ‘And that’s what the Democratic Party is going to do to them, create more programs and give them handouts, food stamps and checks for this and checks for that. We don’t want that.’
‘I’m very much afraid that the Democratic Party is going to do the same thing that they did with the African-American culture and make them all dependent on the government and we don’t want that,’ she said.
Racism and stupidity go hand-in-hand, but this is a stunning amount of both on display here.
I find it strange that anyone is surprised that the GOP are a buch of racists. What does surprise me is that so many of them can hide it so well. Reading/hearing a remark from some self-hating person of color (brown, black, whatever) is a lot like stepping into a pile of crap (hey! I kept it clean….). I feel a need to scrape.
All these folks quoted in OW’s bigot eruption series should get together for a group photo after the election, complete with dated quote list. Fairly powerful answer to those who’d argue the U.S. is anywhere close to defeating racism. Unlikely, but there’s always photoshop.

what concerns me the most is the mentality of Americans. These type of people want to “lead” the world? To where?
they would rather enslave them first.

So Rethuglicans and democrats make white people dependent on the govment? Right?
Her comments were not racist. She was dead on. The war on poverty designed by LBJ did make black Americans dependent upon the government. They doled out public housing, food stamps, welfare to placate to the black population. What they failed to address was the underlying racism the kept black Americans from making economic advancement through education, good paying jobs, small business development, and investment. The average black person was restricted from getting a good education, a good job, and learning about investing. Now four generations later we’re still looking to the government via Obama to fix us. It won’t happen. So there is nothing wrong with Didi’s statement. On the other hand, the Republian party is know as the party of white America. So let’s be honest. The average white Republican doesn’t want to live near or work with a black or a hispanic. Essentially, the Republican party are a racial separatist group while the Democratic party act as benevolent masters who feel minorities need to be taken care of and protected from themselves via social programs because they are genetically incapable of doing for themselves. My two cents on the two sides of racism.
Maybe, because I’m a Black American who knows a bit of American history is missing something here. As I know, Welfare as conceived for America was a post WWII program for widowed white women and their children. Blacks were not afforded the opportunity to be involved in the program, even though there were plenty of post WWII Black veterans and widows. Please see Ira Katznelson’s book “When Affirmative Action was White.” Talks about the discriminatory nature of Vets benefits, GI education loans/grants, home loans, etc. Ahhhh. You know, the stuff Brokaw forgot to cover.
But I know. Being on the dole, if you are down and out, is BAD for da blacks, but not for everyone else, inclucive of hispanics, ala, ms lima and mr. baca.
Yeah right. What we need is more McInsane and Palin. And more financial deregulation. MORONS! Yup.
She is dead on right! Dems can’t deny it, no way, no how. Democrats are the worst race bating group out there! The attempt by them to make the Africian America population believe they “need” the Government or they don’t have a chance is a load of garbage! I have Africian American friends who have no intention of supporting dems and their belittling attitude.
Long live racism. I’m African American. I was born here and I can’t believe the stuff my great grandparent went thru is still happening today. I vote for both party, it depends on the person. But after see that stupid comment by Ms. Lima. I will go demo all the way from now on. Aparently she does not see all the illegally hispanic all over the place. Having baby and getting welfare. I have work 22 years and I live paycheck to paycheck. I don’t want hand out. I want to live a good life, but for the last few years I have to work twice as hard. So Ms. Lima you are a true fool.

I repeat- Black Americans are not the ‘only group’ that is in the govment ‘handout’ game. Financial Bailout anyone?
Maybe Blacks should become American farmers. I hear hhe ‘handouts’ in the form of ‘price supports’ and ’subsidies’ are fabulous.
