“Blame The Blacks” Marches On

Count the embarrassing Rep. Michelle Bachman among the con Republicans trying to push the line that Wall Street’s failure is because of poor minorities. Give me a break.

This is another reason why Gender based Affirmative Action should be banned.

  2. fafaroo says:

The subtext to all this: If we can’t trust blacks to pay their mortgages how can we trust one of them to be president?

    all eugenics all the time

    OW,
This old hard biscuit only really becomes interesting when juxtaposed with McCain’s behavior at the debate. After reading at TPM about that monkey researcher explaining a little bit about eye-contact and high/low ranking order and now this item coming out (I also remember reading that some of the wingnuts took offense at Obama addressing McCain as John) a thought-experiment jumped out at me. What if they could alter the color of a primate and put it into it’s monkey society? Are other primates racist like us?

Also is it accurate to say these people are blaming ALL poor minorities? I can only assume (for this type of reasoning) that they would give a poor white aryan a better excuse than any non-white. So “Blame the Non-Whites” marches on eh?.

    Republicans are just downright despicable.

Let’s hope for more blue state consolidation and an increase in purple for the red states.

I believe that the as the moderate republicans (who wouldn’t state such eugenic foolishness) go the way of the dodo bird, the only republicans left will be the right-wing lunatic fringe. That approach may work in places like Alabama and Mississippi, but it won’t (and doesn’t) go over too well in places that have solid blue representation. The lack of republican representation in the Northeast is certainly a harbinger of things to come for red-state america.

Eventually, Rep. Michelle Bachman’s twisted viewpoints will be the downfall of republicanism as we know it. The Grand Ol’ Party will be over.

Rep. Michelle Bachman’s comments are reasons for outrage in the short-term, but also reason for optimism in regards to our future.

Let’s put the blame on this mortgage meltdown mess where it belongs.

Google up “The Real Culprits In This Meltdown” from the 9/15/08 Investor’s Business Daily.

Then for back up, Google up the NY Times article “Fannie Mae Eases Credit to Aid Mortgage Lending” by Steven A. Holmes dated 9/30/99. Notice the date on this article.

Michelle Bachman’s remarks are not twisted viewpoints. She is merely stating the facts that led to the mess we are in.

  7. fafaroo says:

    From that NY Times Article:

Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

In addition, banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies have been pressing Fannie Mae to help them make more loans to so-called subprime borrowers.

Clearly all the blame lies with the Clinton administration and minorities.

  8. fafaroo says:

Please also note that the article say the Clinton administration wanted Fannie to expand loans to minorities but says that the pressure to loan to sub-prime borrowers was coming from “banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies.”

The category of “sub-prime borrowers” obviously covers a wider demographic than minorities, to include a lot of white people, too.

  9. Paleo says:

    More from the IBD article:

“But it was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that DICTATED where mortgage lenders could lend, and originally helped create the market for high-risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus the balance sheets of many of Wall Street’s most revered institutions.

Tough new regulations forced lenders into high-risk areas where they had no choice but to lower lending standards to make the loans that sound business practices had previously guarded against making. It was either that or face STIFF GOVERNMENT PENALTIES.”

  10. fafaroo says:

The multiculturalism argument is bullshit, paleo:

When you look at the data, it’s true that minorities are slightly over-represented in the sub-prime mortgage market. Yet, whites (non-minorities) received 72.5% of subprime mortgages. Blacks got 16.2% of subprime mortgages, which isn’t all that different from the 12.4% of the general population that blacks comprise. The Hispanics about whom Malkin is so hysterical got only 6.2% of subprime mortgages, significantly less than their 14.8% of the general population. But you don’t find an analysis of that data at blogs like those of Malkin or Krikorian.

PLease note that IDB article doesn’t cite a single fact or source related to the CRA. Are you that easy to dupe, Paleo?

  11. Bruce Henry says:

fafaroo: “Are you that easy to dupe, Paleo?”

Paleo: “Speaking for myself and all wingnuts, yes. Yes I am.”

  12. Cat says:

    Re: racist monkeys:

They probably aren’t “racist” exactly in the cultural sense of human beings, but many social animals do have a strong sense of relatedness (often by smell), and are more accepting of those animals who are more closely related and more aggressive toward those who are unrelated and are thus seen as interlopers in the group’s territory.

Skin color is one factor that can be used to figure out who is closely related because until recently when humans dispersed so widely, groups that were native to particular areas were similar in complexion. The problem is that what once was a perfectly sensible evolutionary response in a tribal society where there were many areas unoccupied and the worst you could do was poke a stranger to death with a sharp stick is now very dangerous in a modern society.

  13. Quaker in a Basement says:

But it was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that DICTATED where mortgage lenders could lend,

Setting aside the “obsessed with multiculturalism” codswallop, this statement is just wrong. The Clinton administration did NOT dicta…er, DICTATE where mortgage lenders could lend.

    They just didn’t.

  14. daniel rotter says:

“But it was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that DICTATED where mortage lenders could lend,…”

Even if the Clinton administration DID “dicatate where mortage lenders could lend”, what the heck does that have to do with multiculturalism?

  15. Paleo says:

More from the 1999 article by Steven A. Holmes:

“Home ownership has, in fact, exploded among minorities during the economic boom of the 1990’s. The number of mortgages extended to Hispanic applicants jumped by 87.2 per cent from 1993 to 1998, according to Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. During that same period the number of African Americans who got mortgages to buy a home increased by 71.9 per cent and the number of Asian Americans by 46.3 per cent.

In contrast, the number of non-Hispanic whites who received loans for homes increased by 31.2 per cent.

Despite these gains, home ownership rates for minorities continue to lag behind non-Hispanic whites, in part because Blacks and Hispanics in particular tend to have on average worse credit ratings.”
    (Why is that?)

No matter how you cut it or dice it, political correctness and multiculturalism dictated where mortgage lenders could lend which created the mess we are in. And it is political correctness that is keeping the truth from being told in the news media today. Instead we are being told lies, that the Republicans under Bush are responsible for the mess we are in. Someone needs to shove the facts down Nancy Pelosi’s throat and tell her to keep her damn mouth shut.
