Blink

John McCain will attend the debate. After his hissy fit. After his drama queen moment. After making noise like a crazy person about the bailout proceedings.

Americans don’t want a spaz like McCain near the button.

UPDATE: Oh, by the way, McCain’s campaign leaked materials claiming he won the debate already. Inept and stupid.

UPDATE2: A McCain advisor concedes that McCain blinked.

“It just proves his campaign is governed by tactics and not ideology,” said Republican consultant Craig Shirley, who advised McCain earlier in this cycle. “In the end, he blinked and Obama did not. The ‘steady hand in a storm’ argument looks now to more favor Obama, not McCain.” Shirley added, “My guess is that plasma units are rushing to the McCain campaign as we speak to replace the blood flowing there from the fights among the staff.”

    lol@ Blink.

    More like BLUFF CALLED.

  2. Parthenon says:

Glad it’s on, however you folks care to spin it. Best for the electoral process that it continues as planned, as I’ve felt since the histrionics began.

  3. McCain made a big song and dance show and added nothing to the proceedings, didn’t suspend his campaign and is going to the debate anyways.

So yeah, Sen. Obama called his bluff by not being the hysterical ninny in the proceedings.

    More like BLUFF CALLED.

And McCain had a shit hand anyway.

Even McCain doesn’t buy his own bullshit anymore.

In other words, he’s been lying for a week straight and playing the J’s of America for fools.

Bob Barr must be looking pretty good about now.

  6. anotherbozo says:

Did McCain’s ploy do anything to move the Gallup Tracking Poll in his favor, now showing a dead heat?

The guy’s cunning, and I’m not sure I’d declare a misfire yet. We’re dealing with someone who’d raise hell to heaven to win this thing, and of course the Monster-in-Chief is willing to do anything short of hiring terrorist impersonators to help the effort. Well, I’m ASSUMING there are ethical limits, even for Bush…

    From farce to tragedy.

John McCain is not a flip flopper. A flip flopper is someone who changes his opinions. John is just totally incoherent. The Republican brand is now totally vapid.

Despite this Republican meltdown Obama’s lead is under 100%. Every day I become more impressed with Barack’s intelligence, demeanor, strategy and personal qualities.

It would be easy for a Democrat to watch gleefully as the millionaires club fell off a cliff. Unfortunately, that club – being the only game in town – is the place where every American has his personal pension plan and where every American has his company pension plan. A stock market collape will doom millions and millions of Americans to penury in their old age. Despite being forced to also help the zillionaires – and take the scorn for that – the Democrats are prepared to take take that flack to help the millions of Americans who are the innocent victims of the “Republican Religion of Deregulation”.

We vow – Never again! Never again must American voters let Republicans be in power long enough for them to destroy the financial security of our nation. Hoepefully, Democrats will be in power long enough to also stop the destruction of the Supreme Court.

It will be an honor to vote for Barack Obama. I can’t remember anyone I’ve voted for IN MY LIFE that I felt it would be an honor to vote for. I actually feel humbled to have this opportunity.

  8. Jaim says:

McCain called Obama’s bluff by saying he didn’t want to debate like the angry, old, incoherent little bed-wetter that he is? And got dragged back into it when his little stunt failed epically? Huh?

Wow. Try English literacy sometime, k Jay?

(btw, how them Yankees doing? You have a thing for losers, I can tell.)

  9. McCain freaked out and went all-in. The problem is this was Sen. Obama’s hand:

  10. Mylegacy says:

    Oliver

I’m glad you made the hand Spades not me… I wouldn’t want to be accused of…er…you know.

Be interesting to watch McCain lay down five Aces! He’s never been shy about fixing the deck.

    Hear, hear.

Yeah, just like the Yankees deliberately tanked this year to secure a high draft pick.

I seen a t-shirt with a similar hand, instead of a J, there was a 9. The caption read, “I was a jack-off in Atlantic City”. Beautiful, and shades of Krusty’s “I got smashed at Wimbledon” t-shirt he had on upon returning to Kamp Krusty.

I agree. Obama called McCain’s bluff. McCain went all in on this one play, and now he has to win tonight’s debate, or he is practically sunk.

  16. essrog says:

    * blinkblinkblink * He called my bluff!

    (Stick with craps, Senator)

  17. Duros Hussein 62 says:

I just had a great idea. Instead of the last debate, nationally televised Texas Hold-’em with Barack, Joe, John and Sarah.

    FTW!

  18. Nimrod Gently says:

Does even Jay know what he’s talking about?

  19. C.S.Strowbridge says:

“Does even Jay know what he’s talking about?”

    No.

  20. Matt says:

LOL, Nim and Strow. I believe Atrios has a name for this sort of thing.

I think McCain fell further behind. We won’t know till Monday’s polls, but I don’t think McCain did enough to close any ground on Obama. Now he has less time and opportunities to catch up, and as long as Obama presses, he’s sunk.
