WTH happens to the deep Indy DB (Marlin Jackson?) after Campbell releases the ball? Did your opponent just have the controller pointed in the wrong direction, or what?At the release, the DB’s in a good position to break up the pass. But when the ball returns to earth, the guy is 10-15 yards behind Moss, and it’s over.Less “Burn” and more “Blunder,” perhaps?
Yes, it was more of a blunder on his part. But we virtual football coaches like getting the “genius” label, Brian Billick style, for stuff we didn’t actually do.
Needs more duck duck goose.
The graphics look great. I like that flashbulb popping thing. I finally went over to buy this game and Gamestop said they sold 5 copies that day and were all out.
Picking it up tonight. I think I’ll beat on the Redskins for the fun of it.
Looking at the play again, it appears to me that your opponent started off the play controlling the blitzing WLB who flashes in from the left. When you (Campbell) got the pass off, your opponent switched his control to the deep safety (NOT Marlin Jackson–he (28) is just the corner who lined up across from Moss). But when your opponent switched players, he didn’t change the angle he was moving the joystick. As a result, the safety took off on the same angle that the blitzing linebacker had been running – i.e., left-to-right on the screen and toward the Washington end zone. This put him far out of position to break up the pass. (You can see the safety, motionless and facing rightward, on the bottom of the screen just as Moss is catching the ball.)
Total rookie mistake on Madden!
I have no idea what I just saw happen, but damn that’s a pretty game.
Those graphics are insane. I give it ’till Madden ‘12 or ‘13 before they just look like a game on TV.
