A canned ham is a better debater than Commander Bunnypants.
McCain is on letterman tonight.
Better debater than bush – great accomplishment
Obama was never that good in any of the Democratic debates. He wasn’t horrible, but he wasn’t that good.
Thankfully I don’t feel anymore like we are depending on the debates to win the election for him.
Unless, that is, Democrats cave and pass some ridiculous $700 billion gift to Wall Street from the taxpayers, which will shift the entire game around.
McCain is the world’s ugliest metrosexual with his 5,500 makeup bill
My sense of Sen. McCain is that he has a good instinct for punchy plain-spoken one-liners, which is probably where some of the ’straight talk’ reputation came from. That may not play well for the actual work of governance (DoD’s recent reliance on powerpoint comes to mind), but it plays well in debates. Sen. Obama underestimates him at his peril.
So McCain can win a circle jerk debate with fellow flat-earthers about how fall you go down when you fall of the end of the earth. Whoopee!
Lets see how the warmongering financial illiterate does against a guy who not only has a BRAIN but – to keep Main Street happy – can also chew bubble gum and read a menu!
I think Obama’s too smart to underestimate him. Still, I get the feeling, based on experience, that the debates might just not matter. Kerry absolutely raped Bush every time back in 04 (despite having half the charisma of a classified section floating in a puddle) but somehow the recieved wisdom was shaped in the direction of Kerry being a jerk and Bush being a powerful, monolithic statesman.
In completely unrelated news, have you seen this yet?

Which, based on what they’ve done in the past, would be the safe place to make your bets. A few days of talking about how oversight is needed, how giving Paulson $700,000,000,000 to do with as he pleases with no restraints at all is unwise, how rushing into making a decision of this magnitude in panic is unwise. And then they’ll give Bush/Paulson exactly what they asked for with no restrictions and start talking about how something had to be done and done fast.
I’ll hate it. It will cost the Dems will have lost my vote for about 10 years. But I won’t be at all suprised.
The real tragedy being, of course, that if they stand firm the Dems would be far better off (as would the country, but that’s of secondary importance to them, I realize) but they are too spineless to recognize the army of popular support at their backs.
Saying he’s better than Bush isnt really saying much, is it…
I would say that they almost tied during tonight’s debate, which really is a win for democrats imo. This was the topic that McCain is best st, foreign policy, and it did show. On the foreign policy segments, McCain rose above Obama. However, during domestic issues, especially when talking about the economy, Obama soared. I have a feeling debates #2 and #3, unless they contain a significant amount of foreign-policy question segments, should end up going to Obama.
