SQUEAL!
Rush Limbaugh has taken to the pages of the Wall Street Journal in order to bitch and moan about Obama using his anti-Immigrant quotes in campaign commercials. I’ve always wondered if the right would pay a price for hanging out with degenerates like Rush. Maybe, finally, that is coming true.

Wow, El Pigbo is scared. I’d say shitless, but he’s completely full of shit, so I don’t see that happening anytime soon. But this seems to have gotten to him.
I must say, his context makes it clear that Obama’s message is correct. Maybe a smarter (i.e., conservative) person can see how his “parody” is being misused by Obama to create racism, but I think the vast majority of people will see it as just the hateful crap it always has been.
I should add, on the second quote, he’s probably telling the truth that he was talking as if from the point of view of the Mexican government. But there’s no way I can see him to spin the first one well. And it’s not as if he hasn’t been spewing vile hate for decades in any case.
Cry me a river, shitheads.
I’m not masochistic enough to finish the Limbaugh article, but a blogger the other day reminded me that the pervasiveness of right-wingnut radio across the country, with FoxNoise getting 25% of the TV audience, may be the reason why this race is at all close.
It’s easy to forget how the vulnerable get so brainwashed. May this toxic plague finally go the way of the dinosaur.
So Oliver, apparently…..IOKIYAD.
Lying that is. I hardly listen to Rush Limbaugh and I’m usually not the type to defend him, but on this one he is 100% right. First, those comments were taken completely out of context and second, trying to link Limbaugh and McCain on immigration policy is absurd. In addition, Barack Obama, who had promised to be the “post-racial” candidate has whipped at the race card almost every chance he has gotten.
For somebody that has been squealing themselves like a stuck pig about lying with regard to McCain/Palin, for you to say, “Oh well” when Barack Obama lies is very revealing.
Rush Limbaugh said that the NFL was propping up Donovan McNabb’s career simply because he was black. He’s a racist, plain and simple. Always has been.
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me now — a fat-ass sex maniac with a Oxycontin habit telling the rest of us to more racially sensitive?
Republicans, you made your bed of wink-wink racism and bigotry, now sleep in it you callous pigs. Wallow in it as I laugh my ass off as the wheels come of your candidate and your party.
Was Rush Limbaugh the guy who kept referring to spade, spadework and hoe when talking about the Obama/Clinton primary? Yeah, he’s got cause to complain about context.
Maybe a smarter (i.e., conservative) person can see how his “parody” is being misused by Obama to create racism,
Parody usually contains truth.
Wasn’t Rush also the first to use the term “half-rican American” in referring to Obama?
Ya, real racially sensitive.
countdown to McCain camp bringing back Rev. Wright…
9……8……..7……….6……..
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
I look forward to Wright being given space in the WSJ for this purpose.
“Live by the sword, die by the sword.”
Yes, and the party of the Southern Strategy is being called racist. It’s about damn time.
“In addition, Barack Obama, who had promised to be the “post-racial” candidate ”
A citation would be welcome. Any day when race is a subject in the campaign is a bad day for Obama, such as Rev. Wright. Compare the times that Obama mentions race versus McCain talking about his POW experience, a tactic he has used since his first Senate run back in the 1980s.
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Wait… so your argument is that because Obama is pointing out right-wingers backing McCain are racist, you support the right-wingers backing McCain… being racist?
You’re a political genius.
As long as the Rush/McCain defenders are hauling out the weak and traction-less Rev Wright stuff, they may as well bring back that catchy “Barack The Magic Negro” song while they’re at it.
Try to spin that into context
I don’t understand the dispute here. Rush Limbaugh uses racist language continuously on his show. Hillbillies like Jay sop it up. McCain panders to this element by opposing an immigration bill with his name on it.
What’s wrong with pointing this out to Spanish speakers?
This is a bizarre situation. Seems to me that Rush Limbauigh has made more racist comments (both in quality and quantity) than almost anybody in the media today, certainly about Hispanics, usually behind the veneer of a joke. This is a man who famously once told an African-American caller to “take that bone out of your nose and get back to me.” And yet, it appears that the quotes in question were actually taken out of context.
The ad lies to tell the truth. Fair to the spirit of his attitude, if not the letter. In any case, I don’t think many of the folks at whom the ad was aimed are WSJ readers (unless they’re practicing English). Just a guess.
I think this is a brilliant play for the nonracist independents. They don’t like Rush and the more Rush squeals the more the “frame” is reinforced that Rush = Republicans = racist mofos. This is sauce for the goose, “my friends.”
As Halter Grasshopper said on twitter recently
(http://twitter.com/tj/statuses/926282456)
Limbaugh is a racist.
Limbaugh is a coward.
He has been found in violation of numerous drug laws.
He lost his hearing due to his drug addiction. He laundered money to pay for his drugs.
He was caught smuggling Viagra back into the country on his return from the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, whose “tourist” industry is almost entirely underage prostitutes. The scenery in the Dominican Republic has never been described as “breathtaking.”
Even all his money is not enough to keep a woman married to him.
He hated McCain until he loved him.
Wingnuts, why do you listen to this corrupt fool?
Is his defense “sure, I’m a racist asshole, but that doesn’t mean John McCain is, too. It was unfair of Obama to link McCain to me!”
Of course, that would actually be true, as well as hilarious, so I assume that’s not it.
The last prominent Democrat to attempt to publicly embarrass Rush Limbaugh ended up thoroughly embarrassed and humiliated. I don’t think Obama was smart to pick this fight.
No August Pollack…
I’m saying that if you’re going to link Limbaugh to McCain then don’t whine when Wright shows up in a tv ad because he’s an Obama supporter, and a bitter, hateful racist.
If anything, Limbaugh has been highly critical of McCain from the start on the immigration issue. That’s common knowledge, so I feel the ad is an unjustified smear.
again….the Wright countdown…
8…..7….6…..
“For somebody that has been squealing themselves like a stuck pig about lying with regard to McCain/Palin, for you to say, “Oh well” when Barack Obama lies is very revealing.”
More of the same old double talk from the righteous Jay. He won’t condemn McCain’s lying, he won’t even mention it, in fact, unless it’s in a sentence like the one above. Yup, McCain’s lying is only relevant if it can be used to attack Obama supporters.
Of course for that to work we have to overlook the fact that McCain has completely reversed course on immigration — even to the point of abandoning his support for his own immigration bill — because of the pressure brought by Limbaugh and conservative talk show hosts like him during the primaries.
But how can this be? According to Jay — who simply is not the type to defend Limbaugh, naturally, — Limbaugh has no influence. Why he can call a whole swath of American women Nazis and he can rail against stupid brown people all he wants, there’s no reason for Jay to actually condemn or criticize Limbaugh because who listens to Rush Limbaugh? Certainly not principled, honorable men like St. McCain.
Jay, your moral indignation is so tired.
In case you missed it! The Rev Wright stuff got worked over and played out a long time ago, long enough to be dismissed as “the same old politics”.
But go ahead and keep counting down, maybe this time around the mainstream media will give McCain’s connection to Rev Hagee the attention it deserves. Let me help you with that: 3, 2, 1. Rush is still a racist and his hurt feelings make me laugh.
Now if only McCain could repair the damage with some quality minority outreach … get George Allen on the phone, stat
“again….the Wright countdown…
8…..7….6…..”
Here’s the problem with that argument, we are not fucking retarded. We know the Republicans will bring up Rev. Wright if they think they can score points with their racist base, regardless of what we say about Rush and the racist assholes who are part of the Republicans’ key demographic.
I think he doesn’t want to be the scapegoat for the McCain/Lipstick ticket losing, as with McCaskill after he wiggled and shook to mock Michael J Fox.
Btw, Gallup daily is out:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/107674/Gallup-Daily-Election-2008.aspx
Amazing. Nearly two dozen comments since I left mine and not a single one addresses the points I made. It doesn’t matter what Rush has said in the past or what he’s done. The issue is this particular ad and the criticism of it is spot on 100% right. But that’s typical.
I will address another in a long list of Fafaroo lies however:
Of course for that to work we have to overlook the fact that McCain has completely reversed course on immigration — even to the point of abandoning his support for his own immigration bill
Fafaroo, this is complete bullshit. First of all, McCain has not completely reversed course on immigration (aside from pushing border security as something that should be acted upon first) and if you had a source to back that up, you’d post it. But you don’t, so you’re as full of crapola as usual. McCain has not “abandoned support” for his own immigration bill. He said he wasn’t going to bother trying to introduce it any more this year because it had a snowball’s chance in hell of passing. Think that’s out of line? Harry Reid just blocked a Senate bill that’s the equivalent of a House bill that passed on a vote of 409-2 because John McCain was the sponsor (and co-sponsored by such right wingers as Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer). Instead, he chose to go with a similar bill simply because it was sponsored by Joe Biden and was sponsored by Barack Obama.
So if believe that Harry Reid was going to hand McCain a legislative victory during a Presidential campaign, you’re more stupid than I thought you were and that’s in addition to being full of sheot.
The bill in question that Reid blocked had to do with protecting children from online predators.
(Insert Tom Foley crack here)
Crap, I meant insert Mark Foley crack here.
It’s been a long week.
Please ask Sen. McCain if he supports McCain-Kennedy. He flip flopped on it to appease the xenophobic base of the GOP. The problem is it is costing the Republicans serious votes among the fastest growing group of voters in America. He’s locked arms with Rush Limbaugh and it just might pull him down the drain.
By the way, the idea that Oh Noes Obama Done It Now We Gotta Use Wright in ad is so ridiculous. I’m sure the Obama people know that the McCain people will eventually use that old and tired story the same way they tried to say Oh Noes Obama Done It Now We Gotta Use Tony Rezko in an ad that didn’t do a damn thing to move the numbers.
Oliver, please show me where McCain has said that he no longer supports amnesty. Show me. It’s very easy. All he did was elevate border security, which also part of the McCain-Kennedy bill.
You’re lying. Simple as that. Just like Fafaroo.
And the ad contained lies and purposely took out of context quotes in crass way to play the race card. Simple as that.
McCain flipped from being in favor of amnesty to now being one of the secure the border drones. Why? To appease his base.
Like I said, go ask Sen. McCain right now what his position is on McCain-Kennedy. After being beaten up by Mitt Romney and Tom Tancredo on it he became a “secure the border” guy.
Nice link. Still doesn’t show that he no longer favors amnesty. Elevating one position over another in your overall view of immigration reform doesn’t equate to reversing yourself. As such, to say that McCain and Rush Limbaugh are on the same page with regard to immigration reform is either:
A. Wrong. Meaning the person espousing it is ignorant
or
B. A lie. Knowing that it is bogus and attempting to pass it off as truth.
Barack Obama and his cohorts are not stupid and they’re not ignorant. So we’ll go with B as the choice.
essrog…
McCain’s racist supporters??? LOL!
The biggest racists in this whole “race debacle” are Rev. Wright and his congregation, and that issue is a loooong way from dead, especially considering the low blow Obama just threw at McCain with the Limbaugh thing. Limbaugh for all intensive purposes usually can’t STAND McCain, and supports him only because he’s the lesser of two evils, where as Obama spent 20 years in Wrights bitterly racist and Marxist church.
pot, meet kettle.
Way to build a straw man! I used the term “Rush/McCain defenders”, but why don’t you rephrase that into words that make your own comment a little more relevant and talk about whatever you want to.
Obama has cut his ties to Wright back when the issue still had legs. He didn’t seek Wright’s endorsement, while McCain actively sought Hagee’s endorsement. It’s so old I even feel tired responding to it.
Well, of course the issue is not dead for a campaign desperate for issues or credibility, but the news cycle has moved on to the lies of McPalin. Even if playing the Wright card had any legitimacy it now feels like old talking points.
Sorry, man … what happened to your dramatic countdown? Don’t leave me hanging, dude
It;s kind of nice to see a guy whose career is,in part, based on taking people’s comments out of context for propaganda purposes, complain that his remarks are taken out of context for political purposes.
You are quite the asshat, mccann. I find it hard to believe that you’re actually sincere in these arguments. You seem like a guy who is getting his jollies by fucking with people on a liberal blog, when in fact you actually don’t believe much of what you actually write here.
But going on the assumption you’re sincere… you’re the biggest fucking idiot this blog has seen this side of Frankie. Good work on that. For the billionth time… you cannot simply boil down 60s of video footage of Wright and conclude that his church is “bitterly racist and Marxist.” Well, you could, but you’d be a simpleton for doing so. Additionally, and relatedly, 60s of video footage of Wright does not say anything about Obama. Sorry to burst your bubble.
And for you to claim that the biggest racists are those in Wright’s church… the biggest racists are Wright’s congregation… and not those that support the party of the Southern Strategy, including Limbaugh… well… you’re not very smart.
Also, “for all intensive purposes?” Hahaha…
You’re a joke. Just a pitiful human being. It’d be a funny joke if it weren’t so sad.
Crap, I meant insert Mark Foley crack here.
It’s been a long week.
Fuck it, just insert crack.
It’s been a long week.
I’ll bet. It must be exhausting shoveling all that bullshit all AND carrying water for McNovocain.
The biggest racists in this whole “race debacle” are Rev. Wright and his congregation,
Can you prove that? Even a little?
“Still doesn’t show that he no longer favors amnesty.”
Wait, what? Your argument that McCain’s current immigration position is nothing like Limbaugh’s is based on the fact that McCain still supports “amnesty”? Or more precisely, your argument seems to be that no one can prove McCain now opposes amnesty.
Well, hell, Jay, if McCain supports amnesty why isn’t he running on that? Why is so hard to “prove” that McCain supports amnesty if he actually does?
One of the biggest issues conservatives had with McCain-Kennedy was that its process for resolving the status of illegal immigrants involved, as the Heritage Foundation, wrote:
Hmmm, how come there’s no mention of this particular McCain-Kennedy feature on McCain’s website: http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/68db8157-d301-4e22-baf7-a70dd8416efa.htm
Indeed, McCain’s website proposal on “Border Security” reads like a point for point cave to many of the criticisms that the Heritage Foundation, and others, had of McCain=Kennedy.
http://www.heritage.org/Research/GovernmentReform/em975.cfm
At the same time, if McCain still supports everything in McCain-Kennedy, only with a new emphasis on border security first, McCain-Kennedy Plus, if you will, why isn’t that what he’s saying on the campaign trail? Why isn’t he saying, “I’ve added border security measures to my original bill and when I’m president I’ll get McCain-Kennedy Plus passed!”
You know why he isn’t saying that: Because he needs the support of people like Rush Limbaugh who excoriated him in the primaries. So either he’s switched his position on immigration and dropped the offensive “amnesty” proposals or he’s lying to his own supporters about what his plan is.
So which is it, Jay?
Everybody knows Rev. Wright & all the people that ever attended a part of one service at that church are racists! Since everybody except you knows that, you have to do teh google & proove me wrong. Everybody I know knows that I am right!
While I understand no one pays attention to party platforms I do find it interesting that the 2008 GOP platform includes this very specific passage:
http://www.gop.com/2008Platform/NationalSecurity.htm#Def5
Now, Jay, if your argument for separating McCain’s immigration policy from Limbaugh’s immigration policy wishes rests on the assertion that McCain still supports amnesty, could you please explain why his party’s platform specifically rejects amnesty?
And when you ask, “please show me where McCain has said that he no longer supports amnesty” can you show us a single instance of McCain stating during this campaign that he supports amnesty?
Actually, I’d love a reporter to directly ask McCain whether he still supports his own legislation re: McCain-Kennedy.
It won’t happen though, because his freakin’ flip-floppin’ head would explode.
Well, hell, Jay, if McCain supports amnesty why isn’t he running on that?
Please show me how important immigration is to voters at this time? When was the last time Obama mentioned the Iraq War? Probably at his convention speech. I guess that means I can take it that his Iraq war policy has changed.
Why is so hard to “prove” that McCain supports amnesty if he actually does?
Here we go again with a typical fucking Fafaroo-like tactic. You make the claim that McCain has totally changed his views on immigration policy, yet you put the onus on me to prove you’re wrong. Nice try Wendell. It doesn’t work. You’re asserting McCain no longer supports amnesty. Prove it or STFU.
Hmmm, how come there’s no mention of this particular McCain-Kennedy feature on McCain’s website:
Actually it us under the Address The Undocumented.
Because he needs the support of people like Rush Limbaugh who excoriated him in the primaries.
He got the support of Limbaugh the moment he became the nominee Fafaroo. Don’t be such a moron. I know it’s hard, but try.
So either he’s switched his position on immigration and dropped the offensive “amnesty” proposals or he’s lying to his own supporters about what his plan is.
Please. You’ve reached two bullshit conclusions and tell me pick one. You can’t admit that once again you’ve been caught wallowing in your own bullshit. You claim McCain completely changed his immigration policy which is not true. You claim he no longer supports amnesty which is not true and then you try to hilariously claim that he must have done so because if no, there’s no way that Rush Limbaugh would support him for President.
You have been weighed, you have been measured and you have been found wanting. Good night.
And spare me the GOP platform nonsense. Like that proves anything. What a dolt.
You made an assertion. Back it up, or shut up. Simple as that dude. If you cannot back up the claims you make, DON’T MAKE THEM. A fucking child knows this and yet you keep repeating the same mistake.

McCain’s racist supporters??? LOL!
The biggest racists in this whole “race debacle” are Rev. Wright and his congregation, and that issue is a loooong way from dead . . . blah blah blah . . . pot, meet kettle.
Uncanny how mccann was able to predict this.
Please show me how important immigration is to voters at this time?
That’s a nice dodge. You know exactly why McCain isn’t talking about immigration (at least in his English language ads!) because he knows the base doesn’t trust him on the issue. Hence the total cave on his own immigration bill.
You make the claim that McCain has totally changed his views on immigration policy, yet you put the onus on me to prove you’re wrong.
Um, sorry dude. I know McCain has caved on immigration to satisfy guys like Rush Limbaugh. You’re the one saying he still supports amnesty or amnesty like proposals. Really? I don’t see anything like that on his webpage, in his ads, in his public speeches, anywhere. Indeed, the Republican platform specifically states that the party is opposed to amnesty. Why didn’t Maveriky McCain have that struck from the platform? Because he’s caved to the party base on the issue, that’s why.
Actually it us under the Address The Undocumented.
Okay. You want to point out where, on McCain’s webpage, it says he’d allow undocumented workers to pay a fine and get processed for green cards? Cuz I don’t see it. What I do see is a lot of stuff that sounds exactly like what the Heritage Foundation and Rush Limbaugh have been asking for.
You claim McCain completely changed his immigration policy which is not true.
Dude, I’ve explained to you why I believe McCain has changed his position on immigration and I’ve even given you links to McCain’s own policies which are nothing like what’s in the McCain-Kennedy bill. Indeed, some of it’s the exact opposite. Where’s the call for fines? No where. There are McCain’s own words that he’s no longer supporting his own legislation. There’s the clear absence of any talk of amnesty in his speeches, his website, any articles anywhere. I’ve given you my reasons for reaching my conclusions. You’ve provided nothing in response to actually refute them. Indeed, you haven’t provided a single link or quote to McCain saying during the campaign that he supports amnesty. If you could do that, you win. But so far, nothing. Why is that, Jay?
You claim he no longer supports amnesty which is not true …
Okay smart boy. Now you’ve just made a claim. Prove it. Prove to me that McCain still supports amnesty for illegal aliens. I’ve given you evidence for my claims. You’ve provided nothing that refutes it. Now’s your chance. You’re making the claim that McCain supports amnesty. Prove it.
