Who’s In Charge?

Sarah Palin, outdrawing her running mate, people leaving campaign events early because they are bored with McCain. So clearly, she thinks she’s in control and today debuts the “Palin and McCain administration”.

Wow. Bill Maher is right, most Americans are too stupid to vote.
I don’t say it to be mean, but let’s get real. If John McCain had picked a black woman with 5 kids to be his running mate – one who had graduated college after 6 schools, one of which she had flunked out of, and who had admitted using drugs, as Palin has, and was leaving a pregnant 17 yr old daughter and disabled infant behind while she runs for national office, would ANY of these people be there cheering for her?
Of course not.
She is literally their not-so-great White Hope.
Pathetic.
She is literally their not-so-great White Hope.
Pathetic.
Why your obsession with her then? Why not just smile and shake your head like we do with Gaffemaster Joe, instead of writing and reporting on her every day, all day?
It would be believable if you said that once or twice at first and then moved on, but lately your words and actions are not in congruence at all.
Because she’s been nominated to serve in one of the highest offices in this country in a crass attempt at trying to score political points with groups they’ve spent decades denigrating. The pick is hypocritical not matter how you slice it.
They’ve been running on the experience platform, and nominated someone who doesn’t even know what the VP does.
They nominated a woman after spending years talking down to working mothers.
They cried sexism as soon as negative words were printed about her, after Palin called Clinton a whiner for doing the same.
They cheered Bristol Palin’s pregnancy as a pro-life victory while forgetting all the unfeeling and mean spirited things they’ve said about sex outside of the bonds of marriage.
They ran an add blasting Obama as a celebrity two weeks before using Palin’s own celebrity as a clear sign of their ticket’s superiority.
Point is this. The Republican party has, of their own volition, made this election as much about Sarah Palin as they have John McCain. Her ascension to this odd co-chair of the race status is of Senator McCain’s own making. Your suggestion that we just smile and shake our heads and ignore this is is simply silly after all the ink the Republicans themselves have used up on her behalf.
People at Senator McCain’s rallies are leaving after Palin finishes her speech. You tell me who’s obsessed.

There is a point to be made about the strange celebrity-grade obsession attached to Palin, which is to say that we need to remember that she is not at the top of the ticket (even if she sometimes forgets herself)
Her lack of qualification, comfort with repeating lies, affinity for corruption and abuse of power, etc. etc. needs to be repeatedly linked to the person who chose her as vice presidential running mate: John what’s-his-face
Who’s the big time celebrity now?
I’ll be she hangs out with Paris and Britney!
Nah, that annoying way she talks would be a turnoff for Britney and Paris.
