I’ll confess I don’t have enough day-to-day contact with elderly folks to know whether many of them are alienated by the implication that Sen. McCain is too old to be president. My first (uninformed) impression is that it’d be sort of scattershot – some would agree that he’s too old, some would disagree but not take offense, and some would take offense. As to the ratios of those, I have no idea. Most of the elderly I do know tend more towards conservatism anyway, so I’m not sure how much damage it could do to the Democratic ticket.

For my part, I’ve always found the age criticism kind of silly. Plenty of countries have had heads of the government older than Sen. McCain that have operated and governed just fine. I haven’t heard anybody arguing that Sen. Byrd has lost his bearings.

And PPP has Obama ahead by 2 points.
And SurveyUSA has Obama ahead by 4.

Choosing one poll and ignoring the others is not a good way to win an argument.

Virginia is a tossup at the moment.

I like how things are shaping up. And this isn’t strategery. It is issues, what it should have been all along. As a certain former president has recently said, right now the Dems are on the right side of history.
