Correlation does not equal causation. But just because you can’t definitively provide all the reasons why something happens doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
We knew you could let go of a rock and it would fall for millennia before we knew for sure what caused the fall. Doesn’t mean you couldn’t draw legitimate conclusions as to what would happen if you let go of a rock.
