Fundraising Pals Fact Check

4:42 pm EST September 16th, 2008 | News | 10 Comments

Apparently battered by how out of touch he is on the economy, John McCain decided to go to the very old Republian playbook by attacking Sen. Obama for attending a fundraiser where Barbara Streisand will be singing. But then, that raises the question of who John McCain is raising funds with.

In Ohio, Sarah Palin is raising funds for her and John McCain with a CEO behind job losses.

And John McCain? Well he raises campaign funds with a man known as George W. Bush, the man behind the current Epic Fail across America.

So, given those choices, a wealthy entertainer like Ms. Streisand who backs social causes ain’t so bad after all.

The only people that care about that fundraiser have already bought the celebrity snob-liberal elite axis myth, and so would never in ten million years have cast their vote for Sen. Obama.

  2. Parthenon says:

And this is among my top ten favorite President Bush quotes, all-time —

“If he wants me to say, ‘You know, I’m not for him,’ I will.”

But mostly for the implicit humor.

  3. jr says:

Chuck Norris is “sold on Palin” It’s okay for Stephen Baldwin to go to value voters summit but not okay for Barbara Streisand to have political views

  4. Sean D. Martin says:

“He talks about siding with the people just before he flew off for a fundraiser in Hollywood with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends” McCain said of his rival. “Let me tell you, my friends, there’s no place I’d rather be than right here with the working men and women of Ohio.”

To which I’ll only add those staples of the working men and women of Ohio: Seven houses and $500 dollar shoes.

Sean, the rest of his comments were telling as well. But you left those out:

Senator Obama is not interested in the politics of hope, he’s interested in his political future and that’s why he’s hurling in insults and making up facts about his record. Today, he claimed that the Congressional stimulus package was his idea. That’s news to those of us in Congress who supported it. Senator Obama didn’t even show up to vote. He talks a tough game on the financial crisis, but the facts tell a different story. Senator Obama took more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than anyone but the chairman of the committee they answer to. And he put Fannie Mae’s CEO, who helped create this problem in charge of finding his Vice President. That’s not change, that’s what’s broken in Washington.

But a wisecrack about Babs is what’s important.

  6. Yes, lets get into an argument about the issues with John “Deregulate” McCain. I know you believe everything they say, but there is a reason why McCain doesn’t like to discuss this issue.

Oh, and by the way, a discussion over which campaign is being run by special interests is one I, and I know Sen. Obama, would like to have. Let’s start with the lobbying that was done on board the so-called straight talk express by McCain’s top advisors.

  7. PD100 says:

“Jim Johnson, the former chairman of Fannie Mae who was one of three advisors tapped by Democrat Barack Obama to vet vice presidential candidates, resigned today after questions were raised about favoritism he may have received from Countrywide Financial Corp.”

Some other twit by the name of Jay had the gall to say that yet another (crooked) high-ranking banking official was “still” an adviser on the Obama campaign. He’s yet to pollute any thread here ever since he was asked to cite his sources. Maybe you should follow his lead.

  8. Sean D. Martin says:

The “today” referred to being over 3 months ago. So, what was your point again Jay?

  9. Jaim says:

Jay’s a liar and he knows no other way. Always has been on this site.

  10. Quaker in a Basement says:

Who’s the smirky dude in the picture with McCain? He looks like that guy who used to be in the news allatime…
