Your Military, Usurped By Conservatives

I know when I look for an “independent journalist” to corroborate facts, the first person in my Rolodex is Iran Conra liar Oliver North. I’m sure the same is true of most people.

These are some of my favorites…

I would like to know why Oliver North isn’t accorded the same public treatment as OJ Simpson.

The fact that vile creatures like Simpson and North are not guilty in the eys of the law does not mean we have to accept them back into polite society.

Both are guilty but acquitted, North of treason, but OJ is reviled and Ollie gets a high profile job. Go figure.

That’s nice except that North wasn’t acquitted of treason nor charged or even accused of such except by knee-jerk left wing reactionaries like yourself.

My bad. Poor phrasing. North is guilty of treason, but that was not one of the charges he was acquitted of. You gotta love the reason the court let him off the hook for the dozens of federal offenses: because he had confessed his crimes in public, he couldn’t get a fair trial because everyone already knew he was guilty.

The constitutional violations for which he was not charged amounted to treason. North gave aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States by providing weapons to them without the knowledge of congress. Unless you want to try to tell me that we didn’t trade arms for hostages, which Ronald Reagan admitted had taken place.

North committed numerous constitutional violations, the most egregious of which was the violation of Article II, which gives the power to raise and support armies only to the congress. As you know, North and the treasonous president Reagan operated a clandestine proxy army with money congress didn’t know about. It was supported in part by donations requested directly by the White House from private citizens and in part by selling arms to Israel illegally and using the profits (stolen from the treaury) to support the proxy army.

Worried that the Constitutional restrictions would not limit this sort of activity, Congress enacted the Boland Amendment, which specifically forbade it, and which was also violated.

The only differences between Nixon and Reagan was that Reagan could tell jokes better, but they were both criminals. Oh, and Nixon was smart enough to know he was a crook, while Reagan may have been dumb enough not to realize it.

Incompetent as he was, George H.W. Bush may have been the closest thing to an honest Republican president since Eisenhower.

Hey, G. Gordon Liddy got a good paying job, though I wouldn’t call it “polite society.”

I disagree. GHWB’s former job was head of the CIA. He was the one at the top of the pyramid, pulling all the strings. I believe Ronnie when he said, “I don’t recall”, since he couldn’t recall much more than his own name.
GHWB pardoned Caspar (& his cronies) before he even went to trial, so Caspar wouldn’t spill the beans. I cannot understand that someone could be pardoned for crimes they were not convicted of commiting. Bizzaro world.
Shrub learned from poppy. How many days did Scooter spend in jail?

Repack, best takedown of Ollie North and those who defend him I’ve ever read. Ollie North is a scumbag traitor of the worst kind, and if there’s a hell, he’ll burn there.
