  1. D.R.Scott says:

Why do so many people forget that 9/11 happened on Dubya’s watch?

Tragically, this catastrophe was a horrible affirmation that it takes more than well-choreographed photo ops & sound bites to be an effective president. And what defines being an effective president is stopping bullshit like this from happening in the first place. It’s only dumb luck that has kept us from being attacked again, certainly not wiretapping, torturing Iraqis, bullying old people into taking off their shoes in airports or The White House That Couldn’t Govern Straight.

Do you want to honor the people who died on 9/11? Vote for somebody who’s competent this time. Here’s a hint: it ain’t the Crypt Keeper or Caribou Barbie.

Re: D. R. Scott: But more than competent–Obama the Statesman will undoubtedly shake McCain’s hand today when they meet downtown, something I couldn’t do after the recent deluge of Rovian lies from the Repuglican campaign. (kindergarten sex education? a plan to raise taxes?) But Obama is Class, and temperamentally Presidential, if that word has any meaning at all any more.

Peaceful thoughts to all from this ex-pat in Korea.

  4. Duros Hussein 62 says:

Huh, would you look at that?

    Bush invaded Pakistan.

  5. Frank DiSalle says:

And where do we here about this “secret” operation? In The New York Times?

“Huh? What do you mean, we’re not patriotic?!?”"

“What do you mean, we don’t support the Troops?”

    “What?”

  7. Duros Hussein 62 says:

I found it interesting that Rudy 9u11iani was so amused during his speech at the RNC that the dems “made no mention” of 9/11 during their convention (putting aside I don’t know if that’s even true).
Yes, Rudy, we try to make it a point NOT to exploit the deaths of 3,000 people for political gain, but go ahead if you like, keep bringing it up. It only serves to throw more light on the failures of the Bush White House; how they ignored the warnings and used the event to lie us into war with the wrong country, how they haven’t found that guy, what was his name…Osama Bin Forgotten..in 7 years.

Yeah, keep bringing it up. Exploit away, my Republican friends!

  8. Frank DiSalle says:

I will ask you what I asked someone else this morning:

Do you know what December 7th means?

Do you know what June 6th means?

Do you know what November 11th means?

    So, why not September 11th?

  9. Bruce Henry says:

Do you know what your point is?

  10. Duros Hussein 62 says:

Yes. Sad days in American history.

Do you you know what April 15th means?

    April 12th?

    August 7th?

  11. Parthenon says:

Frank, there’s a little difference between ‘rememberance’ and ‘cynical exploitation for electoral gain.’

  12. Duros Hussein 62 says:

    Not in TV’s Frank’s world, there isn’t.

  13. j mccann says:

Yes, you are all correct. We should completely forget about 9/11. Just act like nothing happened. Act like it’s not a problem that needs to be dealt with. Pretend there isn’t a decent sized movement within Islam that plots and plans to kill us……because……most people don’t think democrats are as up to the task as republicans???????

Anything for votes, even ignoring the threat of terrorism.

Terrorism is a reality, whether you libs like it or not.

Uh-oh. Look out everybody. Mccann is hearing the voices in his head again.

Seriously, mccann, what has anyone said in this thread that leads you to your interpretation?

  15. Parthenon says:

McCann, are you certain you’re on the right thread? Scanning the comments above I don’t see anyone arguing or implying that the attacks ought to be forgotten nor anyone acting like “it’s” (terrorism, presumably) not a problem that needs dealing with.

Believe it or not, there’s a third option that falls somewhere in that gray area between “ignore completely” and “invade countries that had nothing to do with the attacks, saber-rattle incessantly at countries that don’t toe our line and put together fear-mongering advertisements at election time.”

  16. Duros Hussein 62 says:

Mccann is never on the right thread.

  17. Zython says:

The main question that this day raises in my head, is “When are we going to rebuild the WTC?” It’s been 7 years and no new plans have been made to make a new WTC. 7 years or grieving and we still haven’t picked up the pieces and rebuilt what was torn down.

  18. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Why the fuck are there columns of light there? Shouldn’t there be towers there by now? It has been seven years.
