So far he doesn’t seem to have an offense.

  2. Dirty Davey says:

Very glad I picked the Giants in my eliminator pool!

  3. Oliver:
How can you be a Redskins fan any more? Did you see Coach Gibbs speak at the convention? I didn’t, but read about it. Ugh!!!

  4. PD100 says:

Take heart. O.W.. Zorn is doing better than McCain / Trollop C!@#t 2008 tonight.

  5. brad in seattle says:

    Shaun Springs. Heh.

    Nice play calling, Zorn.

    Want the Mariners too?

  6. Jaim says:

I think Zorn was a great choice BUT ONLY IF THE DANIEL gives him enough time to build a team. Hell, I really wish Schottenheimer was still around. Two more seasons and he would have had a playoff squad.

Lots of pressure on Campbell. Possibly too much. But I’m stoked.

Giants seemed to own the line in the first half.

Skins were lucky to be as close as they were on the scoreboard.

Pass interference against Smoot was bogus and should have been offensive (tho’ I didn’t see the replay).

Skins should have gone for it on 4th down in the 3rd quarter (first time) even in their own territory. They were running the ball well at that point.

Are Giants even any good? If not, yikes.

  8. brad in seattle says:

Zorn is an A-#1 god freak. God must have told him not to kick that field goal with 30 secs left.

Madden and Michaels were too stunned to even call him out for it.

    Stay classy, PD!

  10. Jacob Singer says:

In the second half for Washington, 3 possessions in a row, it was:

Portis up the middle for two.
Portis up the middle for three.
    Short slant for 4.
    Punt on 4th and 1.

    C’mon, Zorn.

  11. Jaim says:

Yeah, but was it that different under Gibbs?

Here’s a question: Are the Giants going to make it far into the playoffs this year, or do the Skins just really suck balls?

  12. Parthenon says:

They might as well make Clinton Portis an equipment manager, because they obviously have no interest in properly utilizing his other talents. I always thought they should have kept Champ Bailey – true shutdown corners are FAR more valuable than premier backs anymore.

  13. Zorn is an A-#1 god freak. God must have told him not to kick that field goal with 30 secs left.

So they replaced one with another?

Madden and Michaels were too stunned to even call him out for it.

Madden mentioned it. He didn’t call him out though. Why would he? You have to remember something. Do you remember the announcer for the Patriots first Super Bowl victory? Do you remember what happened? Madden was apoplectic that the Pats didn’t just take a knee and go to OT. Madden hasn’t been quick to criticize any coaching decision since(He never was to begin with, that Super Bowl just set him off for some reason).

I watched the game, and it was indeed EPIC FAIL. Come on, no Umenyiora, no Strahan, and all you can manage is 7 fracking points? Which was set up by a big kick return, not a long offensive drive? And your head coach is an ex-quarterback who therefore supposedly knows a little bit about offense? And you’re 3-13 on 3rd down? EPIC FAIL.

On the plus side, the defense played pretty well. Held them to field goals in three of four red-zone opportunities when the Giants’ offense was clicking in the first half, that’s not terrible.

But on the offensive side, the Skins looked nothing like a playoff-caliber professional football team. The clock management in the 4th quarter was a joke. 4 minutes left, down two scores, you’re close to midfield and you call two successive runs up the middle? After you just ran on 3rd down? What the heck was that? Where’s the spike, where’s the passing? Plaxico Burress had more yards receiving than your entire offense!

Oh Oliver, it was brutal to watch the Skins floundering like that for 60 minutes. Brutal. I put it all on the coaching staff. They were clueless out there.

  15. Oliver–

That game was clearly an epic fail for the ‘Skins. The team’s offense was pathetic, as evidenced by the fact Washington only managed to score seven points on a Giants team that didn’t bring its B-game, much less its A-game, to the contest. Also, the Skins’ play calls and time management in the fourth quarter were shockingly bad. Washington had at least a chance to win the game in the fourth — no matter how remote — and threw it away.

On the bright side, I am very much looking forward to the Steelers playing Washington on Nov. 3.
