Erickson got spanked by Ben Smith?

    How embarrassing!

  2. Jaim says:

They can’t even begin to address the insanity of Palin’s background — an anti-choice, “abstinence only” crusader with a pregnant, unwed teenage daughter, her secessionist past, her abuse of power issues. So in typical Republican fashion, since they can’t deal with the facts, they try and attack the messenger.

But these days they can’t even do that right. I love it.

  3. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Erick is going all in:

Here at the convention, the story is how much the media is out to get Sarah Palin. The stories that are circulating:

    1. McCain did not properly vet her.
    2. She’s going to be tossed within 72 hours.
    3. The baby stuff caught McCain off guard

These are all media generated lies.

I’ve seen story 1 around a lot. Haven’t seen #2 or #3. Mr. Erickson is taking a large gamble here, nevertheless. If the McCain team pulls the plug on Palin at any point (72 hours or not) Erick will have to ride into the sunset in the tiny, overstuffed RedState clown car.

  4. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Somebody help me here.

After I wrote the post above, I got curious. I started looking for “media lies” #2 and #3 Mr. Erickson claims are in circulation.

I can’t find ‘em. Does anybody else know what he’s talking about?

Or is he just MSU. Again.

  5. Jaim says:

Hmm. Looks like a new Palin-gate story is breaking re: her attendance at a Jews for Jesus event where a pastor told the audience that anti-Israeili terrorism is God’s punishment for them not accepting Jesus as the Messiah.

    http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/09/anti-jewish-ter.html

Seriously Republicans, please stop. I’m laughing so hard it hurts my tummy and my eyes are red from tears of joy. Because you guys all got hard-ons for the Jeremiah Wright thing, and I can’t wait for all of you to make blog post excoriations of Palin for attending a racist, Jew-hating church.

I mean, it’s not like you guys are hypocrites, right? Anyways, I eagerly await your tonge-lashings for Palin attending such a racist event. Go!

  6. Jaim says:

(The Jew-hatred session was only a few weeks ago, btw.)

  7. daniel rotter says:

Jaim, this story, at least in a comparative context with Jeremiah Wright, probably doesn’t have much legs; after all, this Jews for Jesus guy was a guest speaker, and, unlike Wright, not the actual pastor at Palin’s church (not that I’m defending what this idiot said).

  8. fafaroo says:

“…and, unlike Wright, not the actual pastor at Palin’s church.”

Are you kidding me? Hannity spent weeks on a guest speaker at Wright’s church. Can’t recall his name but it was a white catholic preacher who cut into Hilary Clinton. Obama wasn’t even in the state when the guy spoke and Hannity tried to associate his rhetoric with Obama.

I have no idea if this story will have legs but when and if it gets up and starts running, the conservative idiots will have no one to blame but themselves – and John McCain.

The meltdown of his campaign has just been such a joy to watch.

I agree. Keep pushing the stories! Make sure everyone you know hears about them! Seriously. They’re important and will bring down Palin and McCain hard!

  10. Jaim says:

JWG, since you made so much of Obama being a member of Wright’s church, shouldn’t you be out investigating the anti-Jewish speech that Palin attended?

I mean, you’re not a hypocrite, are you?

  11. Enlightened Liberal says:

Actually, JK (the former Democrat) also couldn’t seem to get by the Reverend Wright issue. I guess he must be voting for Ralph Nader now, because he is so against candidates listening to such hate in church.

Or he will join his fellow cons in ignoring the issue and blaming Obama for being mean to poor Mrs. Palin (and her innocent daughter).

  12. JWG says:

shouldn’t you be out investigating the anti-Jewish speech that Palin attended

If you want to compare a speech Palin attended to 20 years in a church, go ahead. In fact, sing it to everyone you know. Please. Let me know how that works out.

Do you consider OW a “news site”? If so, maybe you should consider some other sources as well.

  14. Repack Rider says:

o, maybe you should consider some other sources as well.

I’m listening to Rush right now, and he’s melting down. He has taken so many positions recently that he can’t remember where he stands. (Did you hear that every time Rush takes Viagra, he can’t sit down for hours?)

He’s saying that the “libruls” are trying to chase Palin off the ticket, when nothing could be further from the truth. We want her to stay, but the smart money says she doesn’t. What a maroon.

Now he’s castigating Hillary and Pelosi for not saying anything about Palin. Apparently because they are all women. Similar to the interviewer asking Barack Obama what he thought of Harry Belefonte’s remarks, apparently because they share a gene.

I love the smell of melting wingnuts in the morning. Smells like…AHHH!

    Victory.

  15. Scratch says:

    Hi Repack…

Maybe we have a different interpretation of a campaign “melting down.” It is my observation that support within the party has grown since the VP announcement. That is, the campaign has gotten stronger. This to me is not a meltdown.

As for Palin leaving the ticket, I have only heard that mentioned on liberal websites such as this one and DU. I put it in the same category as “Palin was not vetted,” which is to say, the category in which untrue things are stated over and over as fact. I do not believe Palin will leave the ticket, and I believe she and McCain will run a strong race with a close finish. I have believed for many months that Obama would win this election, but now I am not so sure. I think a lot of people feel the same way…all because of Palin.

  16. Quaker in a Basement says:

Actually, I’m looking forward to finding out more about her, but I don’t think tonight’s speech is going to tell me much. I’ve read (and I think OW has mentioned) that tonight’s speech was prepared by McCain’s staff before she was chosen, and she’s only modifying it to put it in her own voice.

I expect she’ll be pretty good in public appearances. In addition to the pageant background, I hear she was a TV sports reporter once upon a time. She ought to be pretty well spoken.

On the other hand, some of her positions sound pretty extreme to me. She’ll have to be coached well and speak carefully to avoid sounding like a radical. In years past, hard right conservatives have employed a focus-group tested lexicon to cast their more extreme ideas in moderate language. She sounds like the type that might not care for such caution.

aybe we have a different interpretation of a campaign “melting down.” It is my observation that support within the party has grown since the VP announcement.

My post was a reference to Rush Limbaugh melting down over the Palin pick, not the campaign, although I could see how a nutwinger could get confused over the difference between Rush and the GOP.

If the campaign is NOT melting down, you should get that news to Rush soon, because he doesn’t know that. I guess he figures that if HE melts down, everyone who listens to him has to melt down also.

Rush has become palatable, now that he is in full panic-screech and has to take positions diametrically opposed to those he spouted just a week ago. I love the smell of Rush’s brain cells burning in the morning.

    Smells like…

    Viagra and teenage Dominican hookers.
