    The “no vetting” strategy that is clearly underway by the Dems is a very interesting tack. The vetting process is, let’s face it, primarily about finding embarrassing information about a potential candidate before the opposition does. So if McCain did NOT sufficiently vet Palin, the chances of the Dems finding embarrassing information about her are elevated. So have the Dems actually found embarrassing information about her? Apparently not enough…because they now focus on the apparent lack of a SEARCH for such information, rather than the information itself, if indeed any exists.

    In the great American tradition of the football analogy, this is akin to one team, before the big game, accusing the other team of not practicing enough. Palin’s suitability for the job are absolutely fair game, and the Dems have not only the right but the responsibility to address that. By focusing on McCain’s own efforts to select her, it really makes it appear that they can’t find anything sufficiently damning to impugn her suitability.

    Putting aside the abuse of power apparent in the trooper issue, and the suspicious circumstances surrounding the birth of her “son”, the lack of vetting by McSame IS important. It shows how little care he puts into important issues that affect our lives. It shows that he put politics ahead of the country.

    Palin is CLEARLY not qualified, except to the denizens of the extreme right who vote solely on the abortion issue. She became governor with less than 100,000 votes, and her previous experience is as mayor of a small town and as a member of the PTA. Excepting the governor (for 18 months) issue, I could think of 10 people in my town that are more qualified. She has no work experience to speak of, and has only a base level of education for such a lofty office.

    That being said, Democrats have to be careful with this one. A large section of the electorate is “low information voters” who want to vote for someone “just like them”. My name for them is “morons” and “idiots” but I digress. The PTA thing and the Mother of 5* thing will resonate with them. Even those cheesecake pictures from college that are surfacing will bond her to these types. For the rest of us, Palin is an unserious pretender but to these people, she may connect.

    *- pending the outcome into the investigation on the parentage of young Trigonometry Palin.

    “Enlightened” Liberal supports cops threatening to kill family members and tazering 11 year old children. “Enlightened” Liberal is also a sick smear merchant who keeps pushing this baby thing and whose first reaction to Palin was to claim she works the “casting couch”. How many of you leftists want to claim you’re also this “enlightened”?

    We learned this tactic during the South Carolina GOP primary in 2000. And in the Georgia US Senate race of 2002. And in the 2004 Presidential Campaign.

    Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot that the ends only justify the means if you’re a Republican.

    The Republican National Convention should be postponed until McCain and Palin have competency hearings.

    McCain for selecting Palin without vetting thoroughly the matter that she is currently being investigation for which would mandate talking to the safety commissioner that she fired and go through the local newspapers about her during the entire time she was gaining this vast executive experience including the PTA. John McCain insists that her PTA experiences not be discounted.

    Palin who claims she knew ahead of time that she was giving birth to a special needs child risked that child’s life after her water either broke or was leaking boarded a 8 hour flight to Alaska and another 45 minutes to the hospital so that they would not have an Alaskan born child instead of a “fish picker from Texas.”

    Have any of you conservatives ever had a pregnant wife? If so, you should know that the airlines almost never let women in their third trimester fly, especially long distances. Know why? Because it’s risky as hell, to both mother and child. I would never agree to my wife taking a 12-hour flight while pregnant.
    So, it showed incredibly bad judgment when Gov. Palin did that very thing. AFTER her water broke.
    You must either admit that, or you must admit that maybe there is something to the Bristol/Trig rumors.

    I’m not sure why this has gotten so much play, but evidently the kid’s pregnant now, five months. So apparently that means she couldn’t have been pregnant with the other kid. Or something.

    Rick Davis, McCain’s campaign manager and the person at the point of the vice presidential process, said there was no abrupt change of course in the final hours. Nor, he said, was Palin selected without having gone through the full vetting process that was done for other finalists. That process included reviews of financial and other personal data, an FBI background check and considerable discussion among the handful of McCain advisers involved in the deliberations.

    A. Those who believed the initial rumors are some of the dumbest people alive and shouldn’t be anywhere near a voting booth in November.

    B. Those who STILL believe it even after the information was released that her daughter is pregnant should immediately be lobotomized for the good of the country.

    No, the fact that the daughter is pregnant now, makes it more likely that the child is hers. So many young mothers who are forced to give their children up get pregnant again very quickly because they are grieving.

    Also, what MOTHER outs her seventeen year old daughter’s pregnancy to squash rumors about her own “alleged” pregnancy and birth of her “alleged” son.

    Now Palin, as a Vice Presidential Candidate, asks the public for privacy?

    With a seventeen year old pregnant unwed daughter, couldn’t she use her judgment to tell John McCain, “Not right now, I have family matters to take care of.”

    Fit to lead what?

    If Sarah Palin can’t manage her own family, how can she be expected to manage the country? With a father working several hundred miles away and a mother climbing the political ladder, no wonder Bristol wanted to fill the void with a child. It’s a wonder Willow’s not pregnant also.

    In my defense, I thought that “about 5 months” plus “about 5 months” equalled “about 10 months”. Leaving “about 1 month” in which to get pregnant again. I hate when I get arithmetic wrong.
    And there’s still the thing about the long flight while in labor.

    Man, you guys are really working the whole playbook. False pity for the children in a family about whom you know absolutely nothing. Yeah, pity the poor kids whose father works hard a distance from home, and whose mother is the extremely popular governor of their state. Poor, poor children.

    I may be completely wrong, but I think when Gov Palin starts to get more and more exposure, she is going to be very popular with voters, in part BECAUSE of her family. I’m sure the left will come up with some other form of attack. Right now the left seems beside itself with confusion.

    I’m sure the National Enquirer and Access Hollywood will enlighten us. Think Sarah regrets exposing her daughter’s private business by accepting the VP slot? My pity is genuine for the poor teen in this situation, but I’m less sympathetic to the parents who thought it would be a great idea to expose their daughter to a media circus.
