As mature adults, no one here can legitimately sit and say that John McCain or Barack Obama are evil people intent on destroying the United States. If you do, you stand on the fringe and are in desperate need of re-centering in the reality of our world. Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, both refer to John McCain as there friend. Hell, Hillary even had a Vodka Drinking contest with John McCain on one of their mutual trips abroad.

Both men have profound beliefs formed through their vastly different experiences living inside and outside the US. The lean of their politics is merely a reflection of their individual life paths.

Please stop with the baseless McCain demonization. I have never posted such filth about Sen. Obama. I would be ashamed of myself as a thinking man and an American had I done so.

Everyone begs fro campaigns driven by intellectual assessment of policy, position, and substance. Yet every 4 years, we let slip the dogs of war and further polarize our respective parties. In the words of a wrongly beaten black man, “Can’t we all just get along?”

Funny you should say that, Quaker. Yesterday I was almost moved to write a post requesting that we limit our complaints and criticisms to things that have actually been said rather than what we imagine someone might say. But then I thought, “Ahh, f*** it.”

Class? Whatever. The question I have is what happens once the McCain campaign returns to form the day after? I can’t wait for two months of conservatives dismissing McCain mudslinging because, hey, he aired that one ad that one time that proved he had class.

I don’t think this is any kind “dog whistle” but don’t tell me that it won’t be used to provide McCain months of cover for anything his campaign does next. This is politics. The McCain camp isn’t doing this because deep down they’re a bunch of sweethearts or because McCain is some super special classy guy.

Maybe I’ll think differently if McCain follows it up with a respectful, issues oriented media campaign but I’m not holding my breath. And I guarantee you that when a liberal complains about the next McCain ad, the right will point this one in defense. Without question.
