Not A Drop

I don’t know about you all, but I’m mighty impressed that Obama’s veep choice has not been leaked so far by his senior staff. Even if it slips out today before the official announcement, it’s still pretty remarkable control over loose tongues.
UPDATE: Chet Edwards?
Presidential candidate Barack Obama is hours away from naming his running mate, as little-known Texas congressman Chet Edwards is emerging as a finalist.
Democratic officials say that Edwards was one of the few Democrats whose background was checked by Obama’s campaign, and he was a finalist for the job.

I’m still doing a GOOGLE search on Chet Edwards. He looks good, can’t find any dirt yet, but wouldn’t it be something if OBAMA chooses a VP that the speculators did not predict.
wouldn’t it be something if OBAMA chooses a VP that the speculators did not predict.
In light of their track record w/r/t Obama, I think that’s a given.
Here is why Biden and Bayh make no sense–
1992 and 1996 – Clinton/Gore (Arkansas/Tennessee)
1976 – Jimmy Carter/Walter Mondale (Georgia/Minnesota)
1964 – Lyndon Johnson/Hubert Humphrey (Texas/Minnesota)
1960 – John Kennedy/Lyndon Johnson (Massachusetts/Texas)
At least one from the deep south every time. A Democratic ticket with two northerners has not won over that span, having lost in 68, 72, and 84. In 80, 88, 2000, and 04, when the Democrats had a southerner on the ticket, the Republicans did as well.
The VP should be from a region where Sen. Obama is expected to do badly but can pick up a state or two via his mate’s popularity.
Being secretive is a good thing now? When did this happen?
When Darth Cheney got sworn in.
Yet again you demonstrate the conservative inability to distinguish between a political campaign and the actual governing of a major country. How important is it that Barack Obama’s campaign doesn’t leak the name of the veep? Not at all. How important is it that the Bush administration hides the very basics about how our government works from the people who have to live with the consequences of those decisions?
Very.
Isn’t it a bit troubling for him to pick someone named “Edwards” (even if no relation)?
No.
Based on some strange weddings I’ve known of, Chet Edwards indicates that John Edwards was the original pick and a lot of Obama / Edwards bumper stickers had been printed.
(I only recently tossed out my Kerry / Edwards stickers.)
“He’s John Edwards’ brother”-Clear Channelites
Speaking of bumper stickers, has anyone seen a McCain bumper sticker? I live in Redstate NC, and I see dozens of Obama stickers every day. To date, I’ve seen ONE McCain sticker. I saw ONE more when we took a family trip down I-95 to FL last month.
Unscientific as it may be, it gives me hope. If you ride around with a bumper sticker on your car, you’ll probably go vote for the guy. I don’t think McCain voters are very excited, except perhaps in a negative way, voting against Obama, not for John McCain.
wouldn’t it be something if OBAMA chooses a VP that the speculators did not predict.
Bob Graham.
Obama/Gore and McCain/Giuliani. Those are my picks, and I’m sticking with them.
Chet Edwards? I think Obama would lose a ton of credibility if he chose someone like that. Even I would start to doubt.
Howard Dean.
Some Obama bumper stickers around here, while I’ve only seen one McCain bumper sticker. OTOH, while the Obama lawn sign have been prevalent for awhile, the McCain ones are starting to slowly pop up and I expect them to start multiplying in the weeks to come.

In Oregon (a relatively conservative part), I’ve counted two McCain stickers and hordes of Obama or Clinton stickers and signs.
McCain/Giuliani would be the easiest Saturday Night Live sketch ever.

McCain: P.O.W.!

SaveFarris: Being secretive is a good thing now? When did this happen?
Excuse me. Are you really arguing that the administration intentionally leaking classified information (i.e., secrets related to national security) for political points is the same as not leaking the the name of his VP pick?
Please explain to me how you reconcile thes opposites as being the same:
administration in office VS candidate
intentionally leaking VS not leaking
national security secrets VS name of running mate
Save Farris VS thinking person
Looking forward to your answer.
Thanks.
Not Kaine and not Bayh…and not Hillary either…we know that much
“Not Kaine and not Bayh…and not Hillary either…we know that much.”
How exactly do “we know that much”?
Chet Edwards name is only being floated as some kind of thing to please Pelosi. I have no idea why she wants that for. There is no way Chet Edwards is going to be VP. As someone else said, the byline for that story is Liz “Sprinkles” Sidoti. That tells you all you need to know. The only thing she knows is every pimple on McCain’s ass.
