Burying The Lead On Jerome Corsi’s Phony “Obama Nation”

In a NY Times write-up of Jerome Corsi’s false “Obama Nation”, they wait until the 14th paragraph to note this

Several of the book’s accusations, in fact, are unsubstantiated, misleading or inaccurate.

It’s like writing up the Lincoln assassination with a review of the play being the focus of the article.

To it’s credit the article does note how the right wing book machine pummels its way to the top of the bestseller lists.

Nonetheless, it is to make its first appearance on The New York Times best-seller list for nonfiction hardcovers this Sunday — at No. 1.

The book is being pushed along by a large volume of bulk sales, intense voter interest in Mr. Obama and a broad marketing campaign that has already included 100 author interviews with talk radio hosts across the country, like Sean Hannity and G. Gordon Liddy, Mr. Corsi said on Tuesday.

There’s also this awesome bit:

“The goal is to defeat Obama,” Mr. Corsi said in a telephone interview. “I don’t want Obama to be in office.”

Ms. Matalin said in an interview that the book “was not designed to be, and does not set out to be, a political book,” calling it, rather, “a piece of scholarship, and a good one at that.” She said she was unaware of efforts to link it to any anti-Obama advertising.

Ah, smear merchants… keep your lies straight!

  1. Corsi is the same cat who told a religious group he doesn’t want high voter turnouts, as low turmouts favor “conservatives”. “…I don’t want everybody to vote…” is his deal.

Anyone who could write a book with 384 pages on the history of Barack Obama deserves some credit.

Jerome Corsi is an unprincipled, lying scumbag, which pretty well describes the Republican party. What a bunch of bottomfeeders!

Why do people even pay attention to jerks like this… it amazes me! Truth be known he could care less if Obama is elected or not as long as he makes a buck. Crawl back under your rock buddy.

An interesting thing to me here is that it seems the boilerplate response from his fans to his critics is to quote the bestseller status and sales numbers, not any basis in scholarship or study.

I mean, the Da Vinci Code was pretty popular but that didn’t make it correct…

  7. Brainster says:

Corsi’s a 9-11 Truther, something that’s getting swept under the rug in the conservative adoration:

It’s easy to fill 384 pages when you make shit up.

… it didn’t even make it a decent read.

Thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like ‘The Da Vinci Code.’

I’m trying to find some way to make sure Obama benefits from this. I’m encouraging everyone to buy The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama (link to ebooks version). If Obama sees a spike in book sales, that sends out a great message. Corsi shouldn’t be the only one to get $$ out of this circus.
