I’m a little puzzled at some of the reaction I’ve seen to the news that President Clinton is going to speak at the convention. Was there any thought that he wasn’t going to? Whatever lingering bad feeling there may be from the primaries (and I count myself in that group of people who are still disappointed in him), why wouldn’t you have the last Democratic president – especially one who is such a gifted orator and shrewd operator – speak? For the rest of his life President Clinton is likely to have a spot at Democratic conventions.
The real question is if George W. Bush will be speaking at the Republican convention. Because, you see, unlike President Clinton, President Bush is a disastrously unpopular leader who the nominee is making an almost unprecedented effort to disassociate himself from.
Perhaps the MSM could throw out their woefully outdated “Democratic Disarray” script and do some work for a change.

I think chickengeorge is going to give his speech at around 11pm the night of Labor Day when no one will see or hear it.
If Clinton, as a former Democratic president, has the right to speak at the convention, then why is Jimmy Carter not invited? In fact, was Carter invited to speak at the Clinton-led conventions of 2000 and 2004?
No, the Clintons expect to be coddled. And the Democrats coddle them. It is time to break with the ugly past.
Screw Bill. We want Edwards!
Assuming he is allowed to travel, is Kwame Kilpatrick (No Party Affiliation) going to speak at the convention?
Perhaps the MSM could throw out their woefully outdated “Democratic Disarray” script and do some work for a change.
Do you really think that will happen? I don’t. If there is one thing you can count on from the TradMed at large these past 7 1/2 years, it is their laziness.
Whats Kilpatrick got to do with Obama, Cagey McDopeass?
Cagey McDopeass! Awesome!
How about… P(roud)D(ouchebag)100
Sorry, P(ompous)D(ickhead)100
Kilpatrick is the Vice President of the National Conference of Democratic Mayors and in January was re-elected its representative to the Democratic National Committee. How’s that for a conection?
Before s(P)hincterD(iddler)100 spell checks me, I meant “connection”
Remember, Barack Obama must answer for anything a black person does in America. If I don’t tip someone as much as I should, Barack Obama is responsible because I’m black.
Unsuprisingly, Oliver thinks it’s all about race. It’s like he’s obsessed with it or something.
It’s not that Kilpatrick is black, it’s that he’s a Democrat.
Great! A racist that was impeached will be speaking at the convention!
They are now inventing ways to screw themselves.
Why not hold a $12,000/plate dinner in Tehran next.
McCain ‘08!
What a promising thread that turned out dumb as toast. Here’s a black democrat(ic) with some legal problems! Eat that, libtards! Let us fight the hijackers by denying the attention they so crave.
On topic, I never doubted the big dog would speak at the DNC. He has nowhere near the personal negatives that conservatives would have us believe, and, as OW points out, it’s nice to have him on your side fora variety of reasons, even if you have managed to hand him a rare defeat and tarnished his ‘winner’ reputation.
I’m guessing Kilpatrick won’t be speaking at the convention. I’m also guessing Ted Stevens won’t be speaking at the Republican convention.
Back to the topic at hand. I’m also surprised at the “controversy” of whether Clinton’s name should be placed in nomination. Of course, it should, and so should Edwards’ and anyone else’s who won delegates during the primaries and casucuses. The roll call, even when the conclusion is foregone, is one of the highlights of any convention.
I hope Willie Jeff gives another speech on monogamy, that was priceless!
I thought the uncertainty (and tension) wasn’t whether WJC would be invited to speak or not, but whether he would accept or choose to pout. So the fact that he’s on the program is an indication of party unity, just not in the way it gets spun.
Wheee, guess by the standards the oxygen theives are setting here lets see if Krusty will be inviting these GOP luminaries;
Ted Stevens
Larry Craig
Rick Renzi
Scott Muschany
PD100% Libtard-
Do you want to play the game where everyone rattles off corrupt or scandal ridden Democrats now?
William Jefferson
Eliot Spitzer
John Edwards

Bush and Cheney to Speak at Convention: Water Still Wet.
Bush and Cheney to Speak at Convention: Water Still Wet.
So maybe Ted Stevens will get to go, if they’re allowing unindicted co-conspirators to speak.
At any rate, I look forward to the speech from the Republican Senator from Connecticut, Joe Lieberman.
Oh, wait..
Do you want to play the game where everyone rattles off …
Then don’t say something so abjectly stupid then get all indignant when it’s pointed out that you’re a moron. Do some good by putting your head back in the oven.
Cheney’s comin’? Must have got makeup tips at Lenin’s tomb.
I thought Cheney had to blow up Alderan that week or something.
I’ll stick my head back in the oven as soon as you stick yours back up your ass…
“Because, you see, unlike President Clinton, President Bush is a disastrously unpopular leader who the nominee is making an almost unprecedented effort to disassociate himself from.”
Oliver, Al Gore in 2000??

I hope Johnathon Sidney McCain the Third and his trophy beer baroness wife listen to a speech on monogamy one day. That would be priceless! I’m sure Vicki Iseman would be interested in watching that video…
“I thought Cheney had to blow up Alderan that week or something.”
LOL.
That said, Cliinton has many failings and a huge, bloated ego. He can also give one hell of a speech. I’m looking forward to it.
No one can move a progressive crowd like Clinton. Except O-ba-ma!
“…especially one who is such a gifted orator…”
If Bill Clinton is a gifted orator, then Danielle Steele is a great novelist.
