The problem with conservatives and government is that the cons rarely have the basic, minimum qualifications.

Did I hear correctly a couple of weeks ago that Bush's new deputy Chief of Staff is Not-Jenna's ex-boyfriend whose last job was carrying Bush's coat?

The problem with conservatives and government is that the cons rarely have the basic, minimum qualifications. Those that do tend to fulfill the requirements of the position withou regard to political affiliation.

Obama's Civil Service will have to remove these cancerous specks to prevent metastasis. Should be pretty easy. Most of the moles have no credentials or invalid work histories.

"I’m sure the state department, which I have read is predominately staffed by experienced foreign service professionals who report to a political hack with zero credentials, has had a hell of an eight years."

Fixed it for you.

An interesting thing about this to me is that the professionals are very often disgusted by the policies of the cabinet member in charge of their department. Some, if in somewhat far-flung departments, exercise every inch of their autonomy in undermining their boss's ideas. I'm sure the state department, which I have read is predominately staffed by liberals, has had a hell of an eight years.

"I guess we have finally discovered an Affirmative Action policy that liberals don’t like: Political Affiliation."

No, this particular brand of affirmative action has been going on since the founding of the republic, and is exactly my fervor for AA for women and minorities will not wane.

The only difference in this case is that under the unparalleled hubris of the last republican apex, many conservatives stopped being hush-hush and discreet about their normal practices. I guess it helps to have the DOJ in your pocket: no fear of being sued for discrimination.

I guess we have finally discovered an Affirmative Action policy that liberals don’t like: Political Affiliation.

If it doesn’t effect a sub-group your party can mine votes from, you don’t like it. How typical.

[rhetorical]

I wonder if you would be saying the same thing if it was a Democratic adminsitration that was conducting these, um, illegal job questionnaires, and all of the appointees, both career and political, were vetted to determine whether they were fervent enough followers of Obama to be employed by the federal government?

[/rhetorical] - because I'm relatively certain what a Republican't Putsch fellator would have to say on the subject.

I wouldn't mind, say, a 10 percent or 20 percent minimum quota for conservatives in government jobs- fairness, prevention of the bad effects of echo chambers, and so on. What's wrong about this is that they apparently used a 100 percent minimum quota. Not to mention that noone in the US government is supposed to serve George W. Bush, or any other individual politician.

Phil, were conservatives having oh so much trouble finding career government jobs they were qualified for--and watching much lesser qualified liberals get those jobs--that they needed any sort of affirmative action policy to level the playing field? Is that a statement you're prepared to back up with more than haughty half-jokes?

Even Goodling knows she crossed a line. People got turned down and blacklisted because they married a registered Democrat. They got fired and blocked from other jobs because Goodling thought they might be gay.

This was a gross abuse of power and she's been called out on it. Go peddle your crazy elsewhere.

Republicans have conducted business in this manner for years.

The behavior revealed in this situation is only exceptional because it is so blatant, but I put that down to two things.

First, the stupidity of the Bush/Cheney class of political hacks. From the DoJ to FEMA to every single department involved in the invasion/occupation of Iraq, the constants are people who are utterly unqualified and stunningly clueless. I don't get it. Maybe the people who have qualifications and brains all went to work on the donee side of this singularly corrupt administration.

Second, there has never been any accountability for the Bush/Cheney administration. Not even when their hacks stole the election. By the time Goodling went to work, the idea that any of them might ever be held accountable for their conduct didn't enter their minds.

Obama, like Pelosi and Reid before him, has sworn off doing anything to hold anyone in the Bush&Co administration accountable. It will be years before the American people even find out what exactly happened in the last eight years.

My personal favorite: Asking applicants who their favorite President, SCOTUS Justice or Legislator is (again to try and tease out the applicant's political leanings), and turning up her nose when one responded "Condoleeza Rice". Why? Well Condi is known to be too "pro-choice" for this highly talented Pat Robertson Clown College grad!

I agree with Bradrocket: "Upon becoming president, Hussein Obama X’s very first act — after freeing Mumia, signing a reparations bill and implementing Sharia law, of course — should be to oust every single unqualified hack that Bush hired right out of Regent University and banish them from ever working again in any job. "

We seriously are going to need a good solid Stalinist purge of every party-over-country hack Bush has hired and planted like sabotage devices throughout the government, and damn the torpedoes.

In sum, the evidence showed that Sampson, Williams, and Goodling violated federal law

To which Mukasey replies:
it is neither permissible nor acceptable to consider political affiliations in the hiring of career Department employees. And I have acted, and will continue to act, to ensure that my words are translated into reality so that the conduct described in this report does not occur again at the Department.

Oh, goody. I guess that means we the DOJ is already preparing the indictments and will be arresting Sampson, Williams, and Goodling any moment now.

Any moment now.
