Sam: "McCain has always considered it one war."

You can't possibly believe that. It's not possibly to be that blinded by ideology.

Iraqi trainers taught afghans how to use ied’s and car bombs.

Another awesome reason to have invaded. Thanks, Commander Bunnypants and anyone weak-minded enough to have bought the Iraq Invasion. Awesome job.

I totally disagree.

Iraqi trainers taught afghans how to use ied's and car bombs.

They are very much linked.

Umm, I thought the Iraqis were our BFF's?

Could it be possible that large swaths of the Iraqi populace actually don't want Americans there? And never did in the first place? And that a very small number of Al-Qaida linked fighers are actually there, and that the majority of anti-American combatants are the Iraqis, Sunni and Shia, themselves?

Afghanistan and Iraq are two different countries with two very different cultures and sets of issues. McCain keeps getting a pass from the press on his lack of basic geography skills, and he shouldn't. But he's old and white and makes barbecue, so the press thinks he's his own man. LOL-worthy.

Of course, he's equally oblivious to what these guys have been up to the past 15 years:

http://www.asecondlookatthesaudis.com

You know, the ones actually responsible for the attacks on 9/11.

But I suppose those decades of national security experience will kick-in at any minute. (Or maybe not, so long as he has the likes of Tom Loeffler whispering in his ear: http://www.newsweek.com/id/137522).

Nice try, Sparky. Maybe next time.

McCain has always said what happens in Iraq will effect afghanistan.

McCain considers it one war.

The iraqis taught the afghans about ied's and car bombs.

The iraqis brought trainers to pakistan to teach pakistanis and afghans the tactics they are using in iraq.

If we are defeated in iraq Mccain has always said that would effect other areas. Iraq would become a safehaven.

McCain has always considered it one war.

McCain is once again being taken out of context.

Once again people who have never served and sit by their computers love to take McCain out of context.

Hasn't forgetting about Afghanistan been pretty much standard Republican policy for a few years now?

Neither this nor the "Iraq/Pakistan border" comment would be a big deal in and of itself. However, after 6 years of conflating Iraq with 9/11, confusing Iraq with Afghanistan is symptomatic of a pretty serious problem.
