Crap, even Newt has given props to Gore for his efforts to fund and build the “internet superhighway.” The dude just was forward-thinking in a good way (still is).

I really, really hate Cokie Roberts, by the way, for continuing to quip about Al Gore’s invention of the internet. She is worse than useless.

Very funny but sadly true. The one thing I do continue to hold against Gore, and I will not cut him slack for it, was the utter failure of he and his campaign to fight back hard against the kind of narratives the other side and the MSM wewre generating about him. Gore and his staff managed to demoralize Democratic Party activists and others who supported his candidacy.

“Rabid” is the key word, ptc. These folks became so conditioned during the 2000 election campaign–and especially during the prolonged recount battle–to find Mr. Gore’s every breath worthy of scorn, that the mention of his name elicits a Pavlovian response even to this day.

It’s impossible to write a sentence about Mr. Gore that is so mundane that Gore-haters will ignore it. “Al Gore woke up this morning,” “Al Gore went for a brief stroll along the street near his house,” “Al Gore drank a glass of tap water.”

Gore-haters would meet any of these with complete outrage and an explanation of why it shows Al Gore is a Big Phony.

What do people think this rabid resistance to giving Al Gore any credit for promoting public policies or legislation that supported research for advanced technology networking is based on? These folks go into overdrive and begin frothing at the mouth whenever Gore’s name is mentioned.
