This story is most notable for its lack of Darrell Green, one of the NFL’s best corner’s ever and with more humility in one hair than Deion has in his entire body.

Freaky
Deion was a great pass defender and returner.
Tackling? He had people to do that for him.
RE: “Seeing Double”
Oliver’s as good at finding prime eye candy as he is at political analysis. EAT THAT, TPM and dailykos!
Thanks for the link! I’ll be coming back!
I’d give the edge to Prime over Blount, mainly because the NFL has made the rules increasingly pass-friendly since the Steel Curtain days. And other reasons. Neon Deion shut down half of the field. Best ever corner. Maybe the best ever return man, but definitely on the short list. Darn fine offensive threat.
And Cindy McCain. Wow, a white person born into extreme wealth is proud of the USA. Incredible.
Maybe the best ever return man, but definitely on the short list.
Better than Hester? Not by any yardstick except longevity.
Best ever corner.
Best cover corner, certainly. Best total package corner? Eh… not so sure. I’d probably go with Bailey in his prime over Sanders.
I think ed accidentally left off a “not” in that sentence.
Hester is inhuman. If the Bears had an actual quarterback and a decent offensive plan, he could make a hell of a receiving threat instead of just being that Guy You Do Not Kick To.
I’m not surprised at the female support for John McCain. He’s a true feminist. What about this quote?
“Well at least I don’t plaster on the make-up like a trollop, you cunt.”
That was taken completely out of context. Crazy liberals twisting his words.
ODub–
Thanks for posting the “Matt” video. It made my day, maybe my week. Unbelievable.
Does Sanders ever race Green in one of those fastest man competitions? Green was better than Sanders. Why? Doesn’t anyone remember Green catching Eric Dickerson from behind in that playoff game when Dickerson still played for the Rams?
That women for John McBush site you link to, someone(maybe Big Media Matt or even Sully), pointed out that the site is snark.
Green was great great great. But not better than Prime.
Other thing to consider with Prime Time was that he lived up to that particular nickname. Even in college, when a game was on the line, he wanted the ball and more often than not delivered.
Indeed, it’s hard to argue against Devon Hester as best ever return guy, but Deion’s on the short list. As with his pass coverage, people were correctly afraid to kick the ball to him, so you gots to consider that.
Oh, and as for the inevitable Deion vs. Bo Jackson comparisons, Deion was a better football player and a better baseball player. Who was the better athlete? That’s a different question with varying parameters. I think Bo would have won a head to head decathlon, so I’ll give him the edge there. Prime hit over .500 in the World Series. With a broken foot.
Ed:
How can you say that Deion was a better football player? Look at Bo’s football numbers. And he was basically a part time player who never attended training camp!! The hip injury is what did Bo in. Bo would have been the second coming of Jim Brown. He had the power and speed. As far as baseball, Bo did hit over 30 homers the one year. There was that throw from the outfield wall in Seattle, too. It’s interesting that 3 of his greatest professional sports moments came in Seattle now that I think about it.

Nice pictures of Alba. Is it too soon after her giving birth for me to whisper “milf?”
The LA Times (I think) had a headline over the weekend “Alba. vs. Hathaway”. Though I think very highly of them both, it’s a) not really a contest is it? and b) since I’m not getting either, why make it a contest, why can’t I choose both? (But it’s not really a contest.)
Regarding “Well at least I don’t plaster on the make-up like a trollop, you cunt.” I have no idea what this has to do with feminism or any female support for McCain. It certainly goes to his anger issues and suitability for office. But since I’ve seen similar language used by women and feminist bloggers regarding people they dislike or are having a disagreement with, I see no reason to see why this statement is seen as some sort of anti-feminist statement. Obama has been criticized for using “sweetie” and “claws” and “periodically launches attacks.” Perhaps women feel that neither candidate is likely to be a feminist vanguard.
I suspect Obama is likely to be the candidate to advance equality for everyone regardless of sex or other issues, but I think that people could reasonably disagree on that.
Oliver, how can you say that Deion “High-steppin’ for Jesus” Sanders lacks humility? Aside from the obvious fact that it’s true, I mean. Yeah he was good, but best ever? Pfffft!
Bo would have been the second coming of Jim Brown. He had the power and speed. As far as baseball, Bo did hit over 30 homers the one year. There was that throw from the outfield wall in Seattle, too.
Would have? Or could have? Or is it should have? It doesn’t really matter, now, does it.
The only batting category Bo ever led the league in is strikeouts. Prime led the league one year in stolen bases and had a silly hit streak. Played a tougher position too.
Indeed that was a badass throw. One throw.
Listen to yourself.
Imagine a guy with anger issues AND the nuclear red button.
Ed:
So it doesn’t mean anything because his career was cut short by injury? I guess you think Gale Sayers was just some bum too.
