It has been a strange year to say the least. If you had told me two years ago that neocons would back the Democrats (as well as Wall Street), Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and others would say they could not vote for McCain, frankly I wouldn’t have believed it. Then watching the Democrats tear each other apart over race and gender- frankly I thought that battle was resolved long ago. Apparently all the pundits who said Black people considered Bill Clinton one of them were way, way off.
Then the odd decision to run against Bush by the Democrats continues the self destruction of the party. Why stop at Bush? Why not run against Nixon? Or Hoover? Anyone who remembers John Kerry asking McCain to run with him (which he came thisclose to doing until he was told if he did the party would not support his bid for the Presidency) has to be asking, Shouldn’t we be running against McCain? Shouldn’t we explain why we wanted him on our ticket? Why did we feel then he was not a Bushie?
The decision to use McCain to vent about Bush is a really bad way to start the battle of the 2 parties.
