… no more!! I actually used to live in Delray Beach, FL. But I lived on the “white” side, although I had no idea it was such until I read it in the paper. I have a tendency to be oblivious to that sort of thing, for better or worse.

    I have a tendency to be oblivious to that sort of thing, for better or worse.

    And yet, people are supposed to be conscious of all the connotations of “cotton-picking” when used in casual speech.

    In Berkeley in the 60’s (OK, I’m an old fart), I mocked the campus WMCA’s interracial ping-pong tournament. Glad to find someone else was naive, even if not so much, even if not so long ago.
