That’s nothing Quaker, I’m prepared to watch a ball game play out to a draw over 5 days. That said, England will possibly win early on on day four without having to return to batting again.

C’mon Ferris, don’t insult Ted Lerner like that! Angelos chooses to suck and throw away all his good players, but Lerner’s doing the best he’s got with the scraps the league throws in the bargain bin after the Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox scoop up all the good free agents.

Sure, the Nats were down 12-0 to the Phillies by the bottom of the seventh inning during the first time I went to the new Nationals Stadium, but at least they had awesome kosher hot dogs! (They reportedly avoided a complete shut-out, but I left before then.)

If we could have the Redskins minus Dan Snyder, I’d be happy. But such a thing is not meant to be.

I couldn’t be less interested in the Nationals or the O’s.

Neither could Ted Lerner and Peter Angelos. And that’s kind of the problem…

This might be a good time to watch the European Cup, starting soon. Soccer, as you call it, at this level, is pretty good. BBC are covering it in English, although none of the 5 nations at home (Eire, N. Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England) are through.
What about Cricket? Day two of England v New Zealand is on today. My tip? Have it on, but don’t ‘watch’ it (a bit like Video shows). Should be a good match. With your Carribean background, I would’ve thought this would be tolerable for you. I have a cousin who, when laid up one year, became transfixed by cricket, even though he’s a Dubliner. He’s rare in Eire.

Serious suggestion to make baseball more fun for you:

Switch off the color on your TV and watch a game in black and white. Score it yourself, too, if you know how (you can download some decent scorecards here).

And for when Southern teams are playing (especially the Braves!), try tossing some salted peanuts in a Coke (or for a real classic, an RC Cola), and letting them marinate for awhile–the Coke tastes delicious, and the peanuts taste…well, pretty much like moist peanuts, but a tad sweeter.

Baseball ain’t about how the teams play the game: it’s about how you watch it.
