Press Calls Out The Wahmbulance

Waaaaaaah. Obama didn’t let the press corps in on his every move during the meeting with Clinton, so they’re bitching.

Treating the press like the jackals they are? +1 Barack.

Oh, boo-fucking-hoo. Do they not even get that we’re all out here rooting for him like Arnold Schwarzenneger in Running Man?
You guys got punk’d and you deserved it.

Love that lady saying “this is how we’ve always done, with John Kerry and Al Gore, etc.”

Ya. Look how that turned out.

    Sit down and STFU.

  2. Rheinhard says:

I do foresee one problem. Given that the press is McCain’s “base” because he always pals around with them, invites them to BBQ, etc., could this lead to greater press hostility toward Obama because they don’t think he is kissing thieir collective asses enough?

  3. Adam says:

Pfff. Asserting dominance in a non-adversarial way is exactly why John McCain has such a good relationship with the press. Obama will come back and apologize, and they know they wouldn’t have been let near the meeting anyway, and nothing lost. No big deal and potentially a good move.

Who are those 5 reporters there complaining? One says it’s unfair because they’re the ones “paying to fly this place.” What?

    Thanks for the clip, Oliver.

  4. jerry says:

I am just sorry they weren’t on Oceanic Airlines….

    /never seen that show
    //is that a reasonable reference?

Doubt it. And this was a case of Obama exerting dominance…over the press.

  6. Quaker in a Basement says:

“Buh…buh…but over on McCain’s plane, he tells the reporters how smart they are! And there’s free doughnuts!”

  7. Duros62 says:

    have another doughnut, they’re fact-free!

  8. Rheinhard:
Fuck ‘em. We’ll just have to go knock on more doors and register more voters. Does the media realize that the public hates them? That plenty of “little” people would love to take a pop at Brian Williams, Chris Matthews or Wolf Blitzer(and that’s only the start of the list)?

  9. PTCruiser says:

“If the president goes bike riding, we go with him…”

This is one of the reasons that news coverage of our politics has gotten so whacked. If the president goes on a bike ride, can’t they find something else to do for an hour?

  10. Bruce says:

They are part of the bitchy, self-absorbed and preciously privileged caste in American political life whose whinyness merits impalement on netroots pitchforks. Cokie? George? David “Applebee’s Salad Bar” Brooks? David “Radical Middle Intestine Blockage” Broder? Kristol?

I want to see the netroots open up a end-of-the-Godfather-movie sequence on all their careers.

  11. Admiral Komack says:

    Wahhhhhh!

Watch the media go into “Al Gore” mode.

    “Look, Obama is sighing!”

    “He sure is uppity!”

  12. Scratch says:

So, let me get this straight. If the press sat on the tarmac in McCain’s campaign plane and was led to believe that McCain was on his way, but then the doors were closed and the press was taken on a flight without McCain so that McCain could have a secret meeting with one of his fellow Republicans, you all here on OW wouldn’t have a problem with that? And any member of the press complaining about the deception or the wasted time would be “whining?” Right.

  13. SaveFarris says:

Scratch, no need for hypotheticals. Bush decides he doesn’t want to deal with these “jackyls”, this “bitchy, self-absorbed and preciously privileged caste” and doesn’t hold regular press conferences. Guess what Oliver’s reaction is?

  14. Duros62 says:

I wouldn’t have a problem with it, scratchy, the press in general have become a blight on society.

Of course, when Republicans do it, it’s usually because they have something shameful to hide.

That’s right, Farris. The sitting president not holding any press conferences or having any contact with the press is the same as a candidate avoiding them for one night.

  17. Scratch says:

    Sean…

I have no problem whatsoever with Obama avoiding the press for one night or for as many nights has he pleases. And I have no problem with him meeting Clinton in secret. But it seems incredibly rude to me to gather people on a plane under the pretext of travelling with the candidate, then shutting the doors and flying them off to another city without the candidate. Were they even given the choice of getting off the plane?

Not to me. To me it smells like…justice. They got punk’d. That’s what happens when you misunderestimate the power of smarts people.
