Hey, I’ve read versions of Exodus where those claims are made.

I don’t exactly know how well a mass genocide of everyone over 40 will play with the voters, though it would solve the Social Security and Medicare problems…

Duros, you’re probably not going to appeal the to Bible-Thumpers if you’re getting the facts wrong.

In my experience (which admittedly isn’t “extensive” but certainly not by any means inconsiderable) a majority of those who are passionate enough about the Bible to be called “Thumpers” have no interest in facts be they right, wrong or otherwise. They find a passage in the Bible will provide support for whichever views they want and ignore any that don’t.

Moses and Joshua weren’t all that different age-wise.

Yes, they were both 150 years old. But Moses was 9 feet tall.

SaveFarris — They picked the name to undercut an ongoing rightwing evangelical political effort. Generation Joshua is an evangelical youthgroup sponsored by the Homeschool Legal Defense Fund that is essentially trying to train a generation of evangelical children to operate effectively in the secular world, (especially in the fields of law and politics,) while covertly maintaining extremist views. The label “Generation Joshua” has been picked up by other rightwing evangelicals to describe the generation of Manchurian candidates they believe are going to lead them to the promised land.

The fact that the Obama campaign chose this name shows how much thought they’ve put into their strategy of peeling off evangelical moderates.

Guess no one in the Obama campaign has actually read the Bible, because Joshua was actually much older than the “generation” that passed into the Promised Land. Moses and Joshua weren’t all that different age-wise. Everyone else in the tribe (save Caleb) ends up dying during the 40 years of wandering. Quite a story to base a political campaign on.
