Like A Crazy Old Man Muttering In The Corner

8:21 pm EST June 6th, 2008 | News | 16 Comments

Hugh Hewitt apparently thinks that church bulletins are the secret weapon to defeat Sen. Obama.

THE BAKE SALE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED.
REPEAT: THE BAKE SALE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED.

UPDATE: As others have pointed out to me, the latest Hewitt posting includes the phone number of a parishoner seeking a liver transplant. Now, I know in the eyes of many on the right this is just some black church that could be firebombed for all they care, but I’m pretty sure someone did not print a phone number in their church circular with the expectation that someone would post it on the web in front of a political audience not averse to using the phone number for bad purposes.

On a lighter note, this bulletin proves what we’ve believed all along: black people are harvesting our livers. Suddenly, the reasoning behind Obama’s run become clear: He’s not here for hope, he’s here for your liver.

Ignore the words themselves. Concentrate on the periods. Draw a line connecting each period to the one closest to it, connect the dots style.

I think you can see what Hewitt is getting at!

  2. Rheinhard says:

As someone observed in Hugh’s comments, he failed to black out the phone number of a parishoner of the church… who was fortunate enough to receive a kidney transplant. I can only imagine the calls this poor soul will now be receiving from frothing lunatic racist wingnuts.

it just occurred to me that perhaps the greatest enemy to change in 2008 might just be the economy.

we’re expecting $6/gallon gasoline by labor day…just imagine what that’s going to do the lower classes and the job marketplace.

my nightmare scenario is this: the people who partially control the levers of the economy will make sure that things are in disastrous shape by election day. under this scenario, it will be VERY difficult for people with little means (read: democratic voters) to get the polls due to extreme cost. obviously, the top 20% of wage earners (read: mostly trend conservative) will have little trouble affording a trip to the local polls. economic pressure the ongoing, harmful attempts by many republicans across the country to alter voter ID laws and registration could make for a toxic mix this fall that might just hand the election to mccain.

all it will take is a few percentage points either way.

So volunteer to give rides to the polls in November. Carpool.

  8. Nick says:

So, if you’re a conservative, you believe churches should be firebombed. Hmm… I must not have gotten the memo from the Evil Right-Wingers of America that said we’re now all members of the KKK. Thanks for the update, Willis. I’ll have to get my white robe and pointy hood dry-cleaned in time for the general election.

  9. Squid Shark says:

    Oliver,
This seems like an honest mistake, I think that you are reaching pretty hard with you assumtion that people who have a problem with Senator Obama’s associates and policies want to firebomb a church.

Just because we think the pastor is a nutbag does not mean we want to burn the church dowm, comeon.

Isnt Obama supposed to be about trancending race?

The only people who I see bringing up shades of racism are his supporters. I am not saying you are racist, but it is gross opportunism, taking advantage of the guilt many of us who were not even alive at the time still feel.

    Respectfully,
    The Squid

  10. Jack Klompus says:

First time post. Conservatives could care less about black churches being firebombed? And you are taken seriously as a blogger on the left? You make a completely slanderous, unfounded statement like this and frankly all it does is show what a simple-minded asshole you really are at the core.

  11. Dave in SoCal says:

And you are taken seriously as a blogger on the left?

He’s not, Squid. But he desperately wants to be. This is just another cry for attention from a low-level Media Matters flunky who dreams of dailyKos grandeur.

Just look at his follow up post in which he proudly does his “yes, I’m a defiant Liberal douchenozzle making specious claims without any facts to back me up, so what are you stupid, racist and evil conservatives going to do about it?” shtick.

I’m sure his mother is VERY proud of him. Anything for the Obamessiah cause, doncha know.

frankly all it does is show what a simple-minded asshole you really are at the core.

    Bingo!

  12. daniel rotter says:

“The only people who I see bringing up shades of racism are his supporters.”

Yeah, right. Rush Limbaugh, a known Obama supporter, called a certain former president “Bull Clinton” after his innocuous (in my opinion) “Jesse Jackson won the South Carolina primary twice” comments.

  13. daniel rotter says:

“Isn’t Obama supposed to be about transcending race.”

Obama didn’t make these stupid comments. Oliver did and he should apologize. It was over-the-top, and it was crude.

  15. PattyP says:

Wow. The concept of sarcasm is really lost on some of the commenters here. And if anyone actually believes some nutter somewhere won’t make use of the kidney patient’s phone number, I suggest you perform the following Google search:

    “michelle malkin” and “graham frost”
