Branding, Branding, Branding

Another McCain fail. Especially in the shadow of Obama’s success. They’ve stayed consisten throughout the whole campaign. Consider the slogan. I can’t tell you exactly what John Kerry’s slogan was from 2004 it changed so much (”Let America Be America Again” to “The Real Deal”). Sen. Clinton changed slogans again and again, as has McCain.

Sen. Obama has been “Change We Can Believe In” almost from day one. Little things like this matter.

Funny, my boss, who is a serious Republican who considers Glenn Beck a “moderate,” cited Obama’s “Change we can believe in” slogan yesterday. I was blown away because first, I never discuss politics with him and second, I was stunned a man who will never vote for Obama remembered the slogan. Perhaps they are making fun of it on Fox, who knows, but getting them to remember is half the battle.

Mark my words: they’ll be the first campaign that does not change their logo after the VP pick. Their brand and everything associated with it is gold.
