Obama replied that he appreciated the offer but that as Hillary had not yet passed “the threshold” he couldn’t see taking her up on it.

I honestly don’t know what Obama is going to do with that offer, and I absolutely can’t second-guess him. His, and his team’s, political smarts AND integrity are second to none. Of course I’d love him to tell her to shove it. But I know he’s much cooler an intellect than I am, infinitely smarter politically, and I can only watch dumbly on the sidelines to see what he does.

Would she really help the ticket? Or alienate countless young voters who sniffed in him a real Difference? Not to mention the Indy Hillary-haters who would be energized.

I do think it’s a good bet that she’ll twist slowly, slowly in the wind until he deems it fit to announce someone.

Hillary Clinton told colleagues Tuesday she would be consider joining Barack Obama as his running mate.
