So a guy who provides footnotes and corroborating documentation is “the stupidest fucking person on the planet”,

Hey, I didn't call him that, General Peter Pace did.
And he would know.

Doug Feith's views of the world are contradicted by reality. McClellan did not provide new information so much as he confirmed what so many of us have been saying for so long and what the nutwingers are having a harder and harder time denying.

So a guy who provides footnotes and corroborating documentation is "the stupidest fucking person on the planet", while someone who cannot be bothered to provide ANY new information or corroboration for the old re-tread information he's spewing is trustworthy. . .

It's laughable.

Except that Feith’s book about the same administration, a man who was actually INVOLVED in the policy decisions

Feith? Doug Feith? The "stupidest fucking person on the planet?"

That Feith?

I am not at all surprised that his version of events vary differently from the rest of the reality-based community.

"It’s hard to break out of a cult, but Scotty, after a couple of years of reflection on the outside, managed to do it, and now we have a window into the White House that the nutwingers can’t deny."

Except that Feith's book about the same administration, a man who was actually INVOLVED in the policy decisions McClellan (who was not) writes about, describes something close to 180 degrees different than what McClellan describes.

McClellan has a "modicum of ethics"? I have to laugh, because not once but twice in the past, he publicly berated individuals who left the Bush administration and published dirty little 'tell all' books like his. McClellan's book was published by a company with direct links to George Soros, who is reknowned for funding MoveOn.org and other fringe left groups, and the editor employed by this publisher is on record as stating that the theme of the book was heavily influenced by the editorial staff. I think the question of McClellan's political convictions is entirely to the point.

It may be that McClellan just saw the opportunity for a quick buck as irresistible, though. Given how much press his anti-Bush book is getting, compared to how much Feith's book is getting (which is none. . .the NY Times has refused to publish a review of it on three occasions), looks like McClellan definitely chose the most lucrative theme. Sad too, because Feith's book is replete with official documents verifying his claims, whereas McClellan's is rather lacking in that department.

And, as an aside, I wonder if anyone here noted that McClellan is quoted in his book stating that he doesn't believe Bush or anyone in the White House intentionally misled or deceived America about Iraq. . .but you'd never know that from the way the book has been reviewed.

Since you have set the standard that it's honorable -- indeed, that it's in the public interest -- to harshly critique one's former boss in public...

When one's former boss is the President and he's been committing crimes, absolutely honorable and in the public interest to give public criticism.

Also, like the stupid Carville-Richardson cat fight from a few months ago, why does the Washington Post make itself the bathroom stall wall for the political set?

He's not a genius, but apparently he has a modicum of ethics, which his employers insulted so many times that they broke his passion and opened his eyes.

I have a lot of sympathy for Scott, and because he is now doing the Lord's work, I support his epiphany. Didn't the Prodigal Son get a hero's welcome?
