When that sitting senator acts like a spoiled brat, she should be ridiculed. I don’t think it would have made much sense to have a boy play Clinton, do you?
When that sitting senator acts like a spoiled brat, she should be ridiculed.
If you think she’s acting badly, make your case. The video certainly doesn’t. The game is over? No, it isn’t. Clinton is demanding rule changes? No again.
Don’t take the easy route, OW. The video is a cheap and sexist shot.
Not everything is sexist, but I believe this one is legit. The game is not over. She would be acting like a spoiled brat if the game was over. This video disturbed me in many levels.
1)The introduction of adults, Men only, the authority figures who politely attempt to put Hillary in her place;
2)The disrespectful message to these young children actors and today’s youth about the character and personality of the first woman presidential candidate who has accomplished what no other woman in American history has done – won numerous primaries in the largest populated states in her bid for the oval office. I wouldn’t allow my child to participate in this video or watch it.
3)It feeds into one of the oldest medical stereotypes of women – Feminine hysteria. Feminine hysteria included intellectual women who through education and business tried to improve themselves (in other words she tries to act like a man and not his obedient, submissive servant. Feminine hysteria, frigidity (self-proclaimed spinsters and lesbians),depression and nymphomania were the main diagnoses that institutionalized women in mental asylums during the 18th and 19th centuries.
If any other candidate was in Ms. Clinton’s position, you’d expect something different?
All of the verbal gymnastics are for one purpose only–to make a case to the superdelegates, and to convince them it’s OK to back Ms. Clinton. Anyone else in the same position would make the same case.
Mr. Obama leads. He has not yet crossed the threshold of victory. Ms. Clinton doesn’t owe anyone her exit from the contest. She isn’t taking anything that’s not hers by continuing to press her cause. Regardless of what one may think the superdelegates should do, they may do just about any damn thing they choose and remain within the rules.
If we want to return to the logic of the video, how’s this:
“OK, recess is over in 10 minutes and I’m one point ahead, so let’s just stop now and say I win!”
Regardless of HILLARY CLINTON making her case about how to seat Florida and Michigan delegates, Democratic National Party was not going to have a democratic convention absence delegates from two states.
Hey, the former CLINTON superdelegates can come back her, OBAMA superdelegates can abandoned him. They are unpledged delegates who can vote anyway they want until THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION. It’s at over the Democratic Convention when 2000 delegated have voted – not pledged.
Why the need to label her a spoiler? She’s not a spoiler until there is something to spoil. Let the Democratic process run its course and crown the victor at the finish line.
Reporters on the campaign trail this week say HILLARY is not engaging in the campaign rhetoric of a contender and is not attacking OBAMA. I believe HILLARY CLINTON will work as hard for the democratic candidate to win the general election as she has worked to become the democratic candidate. I’m waiting to see the woman that she can be.
QiB: If she’s “acting like a spoiled brat,” let’s have the goods. Be specific.
Duros: [5 examples provided]
QiB: If any other candidate was in Ms. Clinton’s position, you’d expect something different?
Quaker, do you realize by switching abruptly over to the “but anyone in that position would act like a brat” excuse you’re acknowledging the bratiness of the behavior?
Um, Quaker, if you think the better analogy is that there are still 10 minutes to go in recess (typically a half-hour period or less) and Hillary is down by only one point, I have a bridge in Minnesota I’d REALLY like to sell you…
How’s the Kool-Aid by the way? Is it true it only comes in Sour Grape flavor?
That’s true, you’re absolutely right. Look, I’m not trying to diminish her efforts here. She has done extremely well and no one can or should take that away from her.
However,
I’m waiting to see the woman that she can be.
I’m not very proud of the candidate she has become.
Apparently, it’s perfectly okay for Clinton to argue that we shouldn’t nominate Obama because he’s black, but pointing out that Hillary clinton is an over privileged brat with a serious case of entitlement is a sexist cheap shot.
I think we’re all a little tired of the ‘You are ALL sexist for not declaring Hillary queen of the world’ BS. It’s especially fucked up given the Hillary brigades temp[er tantrums every time someone suggests that maybe some of Hillary’s primary voters are just voting against the black guy, and are going for McCain no matter what in November.
There’s a reason why Ted Kennedy never got to be Majority Leader. And please, this has nothing to do with feminism. If it did, you people wouldn’t be so quick to throw Nancy Pelosi under the Bus. But hey, who cares about the first female leader of Congress, only Hillary counts as a true woman.
Enough. This is the power of this sexist video. It transfers the sexist imagery of a hysterical little girl that won’t face reality to a woman who has never lost her composure publicly.
Hillary in a race. I’ve never seen a race when the presumed winner is almost at the finish line the audience feels the need to taunt, throw stones at and kick other competitors who are behind out of the race. Maybe it is because she is a woman and maybe it is because when the boys say go home little girl she is expected to cry hysterically and run home to mommy. Will this be the next sexist video?
Quaker: “Clinton is demanding rule changes? No again.”
Yes she is. She’s demanding Florida and Michigan have all of their delegates seated without penalty. She is demanding the rules be changes.
You are wrong.
Quaker: “If any other candidate was in Ms. Clinton’s position, you’d expect something different?”
Yes. I would expect them to lose with honor so they don’t harm their party or their future political career.
juhar19: “Hillary in a race. I’ve never seen a race when the presumed winner is almost at the finish line the audience feels the need to taunt, throw stones at and kick other competitors who are behind out of the race.”
I don’t see that happening now. I think Obama has been a lot more composed than Hillary has.
CSS – I agree. OBAMA has a lot more of everything than she has – Inspired Supporters, Campaign Money and Vision. That’s why she’s finishing the race way behind him un-inspiring,broke, with a questionable political future.
OW – Oh “Really.” Is this your evidence?
Watched your “Really” twice. Didn’t get her ranting, raging, spoiled brat, entitlement, “bitch” slap moment. So, this was Hillary’s lost of composure that justifies and inspired the sexist “Young Hillary” video? Exactly, don’t think so.
Give me a Senator Robert Byrd moment, please, since being moved to tears is now political misconduct,a few other senators & congressMEN Really didn’t get that memo.
Next sexist video “Young Hillary In Senate” – “bitch” slaps Senator Byrd – Senator Obama (young and quick to respond) catches the Old “Byrd” before he hits the ground. Obama Wins Again. Yeaaaaaaah.
“So, this was Hillary’s lost of composure that justifies and inspired the sexist “Young Hillary” video? Exactly, don’t think so.”
I still don’t get how this is sexist. She being portrayed as a girl, ’cause she’s a girl. She has girl bits under her panties. She is of the female gender. She can become pregnant and then give birth to a child. She’s being portrayed as a ‘little’ girl because she’s acting childish.
Calling this sexist because the actress playing her is female would be like calling it racist because the actor playing Obama is black.
CSS – She’s being portrayed as a ‘little’ girl because she’s acting childish.
Remember in the movie Shawshank Redemption, when the narrator (Red – Morgan Freeman) described the arrest of the badass prison guard played by Clancy Brown. Red said, “he cried like a “little girl”. Why didn’t he say he cried like a “little boy” after all the prison guard was a male – he had a penis? Have you seen any recent movies lately when a grown man is called a boy?
Sexism is when you use methods to diminish a person’s value and character based on caricatures & stereotypes of that person’s gender rather than the person’s behavior. The imagery of female stereotypes – of inferiority, weakness, sissy, clueless, blonde, can’t be reasoned with, must be that time of month, mother-in-law, menopausal, dried up old bag, bitch, slut, ho, and whore (the list goes on).
Most men when their sons display behaviors that can be seen as feminine or sissified, they make their sons “man up,” if you don’t know ask Bernie Mac. If they didn’t think those behaviors would make their sons lesser, then why would they try to change those behaviors.
I’m sorry. I over-reacted.
One comment doesn’t make anyone and expert in anything.
I hope you weren’t serious. That comment does seem like Duros62. I still don’t get it but I’m more than willing to let that remark pass out of existence.
CSS – She’s being portrayed as a ‘little’ girl because she’s acting childish.
juhar19: “Remember in the movie Shawshank Redemption, when the narrator (Red – Morgan Freeman) described the arrest of the badass prison guard played by Clancy Brown. Have you seen any recent movies lately when a grown man is called a boy?”
Right, that was sexist cause the guard was male. But Hillary isn’t male, she’s female. So portraying her as a female isn’t sexist. It is accurate.
Look at it this way, say you were to hire an actor to portray McCain, and you wanted to show he was lazy and therefore hired a black man. That would be racist. However, if you hired a black man to portray Obama, that wouldn’t be racist, because Obama is black.
“Sexism is when you use methods to diminish a person’s value and character based on caricatures & stereotypes of that person’s gender rather than the person’s behavior.”
And being childish isn’t limited to one gender, so calling someone childish is not sexist.
I blinked – didn’t see a the little crying girl in Shawshank Redemption. Let’s try something else.
The point I’m trying to make is about transference and inference of ideas and images.
Take a picture of a Shakespearean theatre stage with a sign that says “Audition”.
1)Center Stage: A distinguished older white man around thirty-five years old dressed in a Roman general’s costume studying a script in his hands, with the caption underneath him saying “John McCain, talented veteran actor.”
2)In the Background: A young twelve-year old black kid (the black kid from the “Young Hillary” video) dressed in jeans sweeping the stage with a broom in his hands with the caption under him saying “Barack Obama, talented stagehand”.
In bold print underneath the is the question – Who is ready for the role Julius Caesar?
The question has already been answered by transference of the stereotype of a black kid with a broom in his hand and a prepared white man with a script in his hand ready to go.
In the “Young Hillary” video there were so many sexist images being played. Not just of Hillary as an uncontrolled neurotic out of control female, look at the other girls in the videos that represents caricatures of female stereotypes.
1)The “clueless” blonde twirling her hair – “What’s a superdelegate?”
2)The “70’s flower child” blonde that wants a peaceful solution – “How about a Dream Ticket.”
3)The intelligent brunette versus the blonde.
Stereotypes, iconic images are used so much that subconsciously they are supported as the proper order of the universe. The image of– an African American or Woman is something that doesn’t jive with the established images of the great white founding fathers.
“I blinked – didn’t see a the little crying girl in Shawshank Redemption.”
You need to explain yourself here. I have the funny feeling one of use lacks reading comprehension.
“Let’s try something else.”
Sure, why not.
“The question has already been answered by transference of the stereotype of a black kid with a broom in his hand and a prepared white man with a script in his hand ready to go.”
So you have a while man being portrayed by a white man and a black man being portrayed as a boy, which is all sorts of trouble.
On the other hand, in this video you have Clinton being portrayed as a young girl and Obama being portrayed as a young boy.
Not really analogous, is it?
“1)The “clueless” blonde twirling her hair – “What’s a superdelegate?””
She’s acting like a child, therefore she is being portrayed as a child. Why can’t you understand that?
“2)The “70’s flower child” blonde that wants a peaceful solution – “How about a Dream Ticket.””
Huh? How is this sexist? Wouldn’t guys from the same era, the 60s, want the same thing?
“3)The intelligent brunette versus the blonde.”
Two points:
1.) The dumb blonde isn’t sexist. It’s used against guys as well, just not as common.
2.) She’s acting like a child, so she is being portrayed as one.
———————————
Here’s the issue. Hillary Clinton is acting like a child. Not in the video, but in real life.
How many times has she, or one of her delegates said one of Obama’s wins didn’t count? Small states, red states, caucus states, etc. Home many times did she, or one of her delegates, move the goalposts? Pledged delegates, popular votes, most states, total delegates, etc.
Therefore, portraying her as a child is not sexist, period.
———————————
If you want to prove this is sexist, you have to show behavior here that is not representative of a child. Got it?
CSS: Here’s the issue. Hillary Clinton is acting like a child. Not in the video, but in real life.
CSS: Got it?
No, I don’t have it.
Are you saying her political strategies are childlish? No, divisive and despicable but not childish? What makes her childish? She won’t quit. Hillary conducts herself like a woman who will not give up against all odds. This didn’t happen to Al Gore in 2000. I voted for Gore and I didn’t want him to quit I wanted him to keep fighting and overturn the Supreme Court, but I don’t remember him portrayed as childish.
Sexism is not confined to the female gender. Sexist stereotypes are used against men all the time too, what would female comics have to joke about if sexist stereotypes of men didn’t exist. Whether it happens to a man or woman let’s just call it what it is- the use of gender-based stereotypes to transfer a negative characterization of a person?
You haven’t said one thing that Hillary has done or is doing that is childlike. Hillary Clinton is a desperate woman and she is acting like one. She is determined at all costs to win and deny numerical realities that make her victory an impossibility. Children cave in to pressure and are easily manipulated by adults – that’s why they are a protected class. Hillary hasn’t cave in and no one has found a way to manipulate her.
Look I am Obama – 150%. I find the Hillary’s actions, the actions of her husband and campaign detestable beginning in South Carolina to get the black vote, in Pennsylvania to get the white vote and her latest resurgence of sexism claims as the victimized woman candidate to energize women for support another “low road to victory,” but her actions are not childish. She’s dealing from the bottom.
I think she is trying to destroy Obama’s chances for a general election win so she can be the only person to save him. She’s trying to bargain her way into power after the election as being the only person able to bring back her supporters especially the women back to the Democratic Party.
I’m anger as hell at Hillary, she can’t live long enough to redeem herself 100% for me, that being saying, I still know a sexist “Young Hillary” video when I see one.
1)The “clueless” blonde twirling her hair – “What’s a superdelegate?”
She is representative of the majority of uniformed American voters. You know, those who know more about American Idle contestants than Presidential candidates.
juhar19: What makes her childish?…She is determined at all costs to win and deny numerical realities
I think you’ve started to answer your own question.
Children cave in to pressure and are easily manipulated by adults
They can be, certainly. But they also can absolutely refuse to deal with reality, and be obstinately petulant when they don’t get their way. They can continue to claim something is true, even after it has clearly shown not to be the case. They can lash out at what the perceive to be unfair, even though it isn’t.
Truth is, many adults also behave this way regularly (I’m looking at you Bill O’Reilly (not to mention a fair chunk of Hillary’s supporters)) but it is a mode of behavior we expect adults to grow out of. Hence, we refer to it as “childish.”
– Bill O’Reilly? – “Yes …..Oh, Hell Yes,”
- Huge chunk of Hillary supporters? “Yes,”
- Hillary Clinton “No.”
Hillary and her husband are manipulating her supporters to believe in her sexism victimization claims and “White working class people won’t vote for Obama” to encourage the childish behavior of her supporters and use the “defection from the Democratic Party” as leverage and to ensure Hillary and Bill’s political futures.
Despicable Hillary? – “Yes” Childish Hillary? “No” Face it, she is too clever and calculating for any public displays that can be deemed childish. Where are the videos? Where are the transcripts that shows her being childish? Got none because there is none. Why hasn’t Obama called her childish? Why hasn’t John McCain or any other politician called her childish? Because they all call her Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
This woman is a powerful calculating force to be reckoned with and Obama can take her on, if not, damn how are going solve our country economic and energy crisis, how are we going to get out of Iraq, control Iran, North Korea and stop the genocide in the Sudan?
Farking brilliant:)
Ha ha. All they need now is the sepia tone flickascope to do McCain,
You’ve gotta love her spunk though.
Portraying a sitting senator as a spoiled, overbearing little girl?
What happened to that hale fellow who denounces “bigot eruptions” wherever they occur?
When that sitting senator acts like a spoiled brat, she should be ridiculed. I don’t think it would have made much sense to have a boy play Clinton, do you?
too funny… too easy as well, but funny nonetheless
Obama was a little kid too. This guy is crazy
All they need now is the sepia tone flickascope to do McCain,
Found it.

If you think she’s acting badly, make your case. The video certainly doesn’t. The game is over? No, it isn’t. Clinton is demanding rule changes? No again.

“Stagehand” is a bigot eruption, but portraying a woman as a whiney little girl isn’t sexist?
Raise your game, OW. You’re going to the show.
Sorry, but HRC is acting like a spoiled brat, and she’s going to be played by a girl because she’s a woman. Them’s the shakes.
Sorry, but HRC is acting like a spoiled brat,
And you still haven’t made your case. Instead, you’re taunting.
Okay, how about this?
Better or worse?
Worse and tired.
Third-tier media pundits have been drawing high school analogies about Ms. Clinton for what?…About two years now? Longer than that? How time flies.
If she’s “acting like a spoiled brat,” let’s have the goods. Be specific. Show your work.
C’mon, do we really have to hash this all out again?
-It’s all about the delegates.
-No, sorry, it’s all about the popular vote.
-Except when the popular vote includes caucuses, ‘cuz that’s not fair.
-We should have Michigan and Florida seated as they voted.
-No, we get ALL the delegates in Michigan and Florida, ‘cuz we were the only ones running there.
Did I miss anything?
If any other candidate was in Ms. Clinton’s position, you’d expect something different?
All of the verbal gymnastics are for one purpose only–to make a case to the superdelegates, and to convince them it’s OK to back Ms. Clinton. Anyone else in the same position would make the same case.

Got it?

Childish behavior?
“- Huge chunk of Hillary supporters? ‘Yes,’
- Hillary Clinton ‘No.’”
You are splitting hairs here. When her surrogates are acting childish, then it is fair to paint her that way.
