It’s easy to say or think that all Whites were complicate with slavery because they didn’t stop it. What this coverage lacks is the facts of American Slave History, especially in Kentucky to realize how troubling and these comments of poor White Americans are because in all likelihood their forefathers didn’t own slaves and if they did participate in the institution of slavery it was on its fringes. Except for being invested in race prejudice they inherited from their parents, I bet very few of these people have had any contact with African Americans.
The majority, no almost all slaves, were owned by wealth plantation slave-owners. Kentucky’s geography and chief industries) did not demand as many slaves and other southern states and most slaves were sold to the Deep South because Kentucky, bordering “free” states, had a runaway slave problem that made owning slaves a very risky investment, too risky for small farmers.
How sad that HILLARY CLINTON in language and tone encourages this population to hold on to these beliefs when she identifies Whites as the hard working Americans and says nothing else as if no one knows she is saying that African American and the others are not the hard working Americans. The New York Times who endorsed HILLARY CLINTON says it best when printed an article about her desperate “Low Road to Victory.”
