Actually, That’s The Problem

The righties are nodding along with Sen. Tom Coburn saying that the way back to majority for Republicans is that they should act like Republicans. But the reason the GOP is losing ground and continues to do so is that they are acting like Republicans. Look no further than Coburn himself, who said doctors should be arrested for performing abortions.

Bush was able to come close to Gore in the first place by pretending to be a Republican who didn’t act like a Republican, and the party has lost ground as their actions betray their words. Projects like the K Street Project weren’t an aberration – they were Republican governance in action.

It’s the middle ground that has to be won, nobody wins without the support of the floating voter. The deciding factor for them is who has the scariest extremists IMO.

Don’t forget the time that Coburn sterilized a patient without her consent, defeating the lawsuit by painting her as a slut who deserved to be sterilized.

    Republicans acting like Republicans.

…and, not to put too fine a point on it, because Gore spent HIS campaign acting like a Republican. Let’s not forget who he chose as his running-mate.
