I agree with z_adura with the exception that my state, Georgia, still has plenty of dead enders who think Bush is absolute roses. For the rest of the country, when they start seeing that he is not only tied to Bush but more of the same and dumber on things like the war, and even more clueless about the economy, it will be a landslide victory for Obama.

Funny, Oliver, I don’t see this election as “close.” I am talking to family in Oklahoma, Arizona, Iowa, Washington and California. Many of these people are hard-core Republicans with deep military ties. To say that there is a “lack of enthusiasm” would be mild. There is absolute opposition. Bush did a great job in 2000 of making McCain seem unelectable. Does this mean they’ll vote for Obama? Well, they voted for J.C. Watts.

Once we turn all of our guns on McCain and really start to focus on his terrible policy positions, he’ll be toast.

When I hear about anonymous GOP strategists mulling a McCain blowout, I start thinking the article is pure propaganda.

Since Obama now appears to be the presumptive nominee, spreading doubt about his electability amongst the super delegates keeps them undecided up to the convention damaging Obama as much as possible.

I think a lot of Reps hate the idea of having McCain as their guy. They wanted a deeply devoutly religious man, comitted to war in Iraq and Afghanistan who is also a family man, but bin Laden wouldn’t qualify

I think you’re probably right, and it’s better to keep your chin up, and maybe I’m just a nattering nabob of negativity, but damn, sometimes I wonder about this country and sometimes I wonder if maybe McCain can’t pull it off and sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever get hypotaxis down.
