Will McCain Pick Romney For His Bling?
His relationship with his wife’s fortune shows that John McCain is all about using the cash of family and friends to fuel his political ambitions, so I wonder if the otherwise useless Mitt Romney might be at the top of his veep running mate list simply because the Mittster has a lot of cash in the bank? McCain is having a hard time raising funds, and Obama is running laps around him without even officially being the party’s nominee. Come this fall, McCain is likely to get swamped. It bears emembering that almost 50% of the $97 million Mitt Romney raised for his failed primary campaign – [$42.3 million – came out of his own bank book.

No, I don’t think Romney is in play for the VP gig. Instead I believe that John McCain’s team will trot out the rotting corpse of either Richard Nixon or perhaps even Ronald Reagan.
The other potential McCain dream ticket: Dick Cheney. Here me out on this… …with Cheney, McCain could deflect all criticism of the war to his running mate who is great at creating an alternate reality. Cheney could then milk the VPship much the same way George W. Bush milked the President-in-time-of-war meme during 2004. The war in Iraq could have perpetual continuity, and Dick Cheney would continue to run the country like the dictator he has always wanted to be. Furthermore, now that part of the Bush team is still in place for the McCain presidency, George W. Bush and his cronies can more easily melt into the background and avoid any serious investigations and/or criminal probes. A clean sweep of the executive branch might bring too many skeletons out of the closet, and McCain wouldn’t want that sort of thing tarring his first four years.
Besides, I am just dying to see Lynn Cheney do campaign events again. Anyone remember her “oh, he’s a BAAAAD man” comment directed towards John Edwards during the 2004 election just after one of the VP debates where Edwards needled Cheney about his gay daughter?

No fear of the no matter who wins. Bush’s final act as president will be, just like all other recent presidents, one of cowardice where he issues a series of pardons then sneaks out the back door.

Not if Tagg can help it. He’s proabably pissed at dad for blowing enough of his inheritance as it is.
Mitt Romney brings more to the ticket than just financial backing – he can provide the missing element to the McCain presidential campaign: Economics. Everything Romney has touched has prospered… next up: The US Economy.
