George Bush again attacks Democrats as terrorist appeasers, on foreign soil no less, when as we all know – George W. Bush has had more Americans die via terrorism under him than any other president in American history.
In a speech to Israel’s Knesset, Bush said: “Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along.
“We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is — the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.”
Obama responded with a statement, seizing on Bush’s remarks even as it was unclear to whom the president was referring.
“It is sad that President Bush would use a speech to the Knesset on the 60th anniversary of Israel’s independence to launch a false political attack,” Obama said in the statement his aides distributed. “George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists, and the president’s extraordinary politicization of foreign policy and the politics of fear do nothing to secure the American people or our stalwart ally Israel.”
Excuse me, Mr. Commander Guy:
“Bin Laden determined to strike in U.S.”
I’m so sorry to interrupt. You were saying?
How’d all that diplomacy with Arafat work out for President Clinton?
The funny thing: it was a Republican Senator that said that.
“How’d all that diplomacy with Arafat work out for President Clinton?”
When did Arafat invade Poland now? Actually, I could give a more complete, nuanced answer that articulated the differences between good faith diplomatic efforts and kill em all, but your question doesn’t deserve the effort.
If a President triggers Godwin’s law, can he be forced to resign?
My daydream is that at Obama’s Inaugural Address, while Bush is sitting there nearby, late in the speech Obama nods to Secret Service agents while saying”…and finally, in my first official act as President, I’m going to…ARREST THIS MAN!” while looking at Bush, who is being flanked by Secret Service agents, one of them with handcuffs in hand. Bush is then frog-marched to a waiting helicopter while Obama finishes his speech.
Now THAT’S compelling TV.
The funny thing: it was a Republican Senator that said that.
Senator Strawman?
Is it just me or do you have to have a lot of goddammed nerve to bring up Hitler in front of the Israeli parliament?
”…and finally, in my first official act as President, I’m going to…ARREST THIS MAN!”
HAW! “Guards! Seize him!”
“I could give a more complete, nuanced answer that articulated the differences between good faith diplomatic efforts and kill em all, but your question doesn’t deserve the effort.”
No one would suggest that Arafat bargained in good faith. Rather through the Intifada, he chose to “kill em all.” I assume that is what you meant.
You assumed wrong.
How’d all that diplomacy with Arafat work out for President Clinton?
Pretty good, I guess. He’s no longer a threat, now is he?
If Mr. Willis hadn’t explained that this was targetted at Democrats or Senator Obama, I’d have never put the two together. And now looking through the various responses from the Democrats and Senators Obama and Clinton, it strikes me as them protesting a bit too much.
And I don’t think Godwin’s Law applies when you’re discussing World War II or the creation of the state of Israel. Hitler and the Nazis did have something to do with that.

“How’d all that diplomacy with Arafat work out for President Clinton?

Being dead can do that. Diplomacy didn’t.
“Arrest Bush” has got to be the Left’s #1 masturbatory fantasy. Especially the frog marching. Does that part give you an extra little shiver of antici……..pation?
I think arresting people for good-faith political decisions that turn-out badly is the number one masturbatory fantasy of every wanna-be fascists, left or right.
How about arresting people for bad-faith political decisions that turn out badly?
Or, for that matter, high crimes and misdemeanors against the Constitution of the United States?
Wanna-be fascists. Please.
Good-faith political decisions? Is that the defense we’re going to hear as to the Bush legacy?
If that’s so, it’s never been truer what lies at the end of that road paved with good intentions.
How about “faith-based political decisions?”
Please to show evidence of good faith political decisions.
