Looks the same to me, except kinda wet and slicked down in the later photo.
I think it’s the bad spray tan that makes his hair look orange. A little overspray, perhaps.

Whatever color, I have a hard time watching him. He injects himself into interviews too much. Sometimes I don’t want to be reminded of these guys egos. I just want to hear what the guest has to say.
At first, I thought he was using Just For Men but who knows?
Tim McCarver (baseball commentator who walks around with his nose up Derek Jeter’s rear end) has a similar fake reddish color to his hair. Perhaps Matthews is trying to be more sporty? (Or has a crush on Jeter.)
