Barack Obama’s Big Mistake: He’s Getting Too Many Votes

Speaking for me only

Following in the footsteps of other bloggers like Jeralyn Merritt and Armando, I must urge the superdelegates, the media and other creative class left blogs to be aware of something before it is too late. I’ve crunched the numbers, looked them over again and again, then again with a sprinkling of eye of newt and found the weakness in Barack Obama’s candidacy:

He’s getting too many votes.

In 32 out of the 47 contests more people have voted and caucused for Sen. Obama than for Sen. Clinton. Why is the media not reporting on this? They spend so much time on the slicing and dicing of the electorate highlighting ad nauseam which blocs are voting for and against a candidate when the writing is on the wall.

More people are voting for Sen. Obama and that’s a huge problem in the fall. If we extrapolate this trend, it’s possible that he could, in the general election, have more votes than any other presidential candidate in history! The nomination process will be a mockery of the highest order if Howard Dean and the DNC sit back and allow the person with the most votes and most supporters to walk away with the nomination. This isn’t what we all signed up for.

I hope the other hopelessly biased pro-Obama blogs like the sinister Josh Marshall, the Great Orange Satan, and Huffington Post all stop taking those bags of cash from David Plouffe and understand the path they’re marching down.

Do you really want to live in a country where the leading vote getter worms his way into the nomination for one of the two major parties in America?

I don’t. I shudder at the thought.

Now that is some Jonathan Swiftian-level snark, Oliver. Funny.

Bwah-hahahahaha. A great impression of Armando. You should, however, include a line calling pro-Obama bloggers “DISHONEST”.

Now don’t you know how important it is to consider the skin colors that touched all those ballots? Why, one might almost think that those black votes count as much as white ones!

    Terrifying! Preposterous!

What?! Get the hell outta here, when did they change that law? I thought “black” votes only counted as 3/5ths of a vote? You mean … you … you mean black folk get to vote on a par with whitey?

I’m gonna be sick, sick I tell you. Has anyone notified Taylor Marsh about this travesty of voting injustice?

Superb rendition thus far. To make it complete, be sure and delete any comments that disagree with you.

This is hilarious. You always know BTD is going to say something really stupid and/or racist when he does the Speaking for me only BS

Garm, you can’t just delete the comments. You have to delete them, and tell them what a loser they are after they’ve been banned and can’t respond.

That’s not accurate at all. He does that to provide TL a reasonable distancing between him and anything he says. There are times he has said somethings I consider ludicrous, and if anything, too much in conforming to political correctness, but I can’t recall anything that would make me consider BTD a racist, and I think less of anyone that would suggest that.

I have seen plenty of evidence to the contrary.

We can support different Democratic candidates, but I think we’re crossing a line when we call people who disagree with us racists, or sexist, or Republicans, or any of the bullshit we’ve heard spread in the past six months.

You’re right–in honor of the 2000 Presidential decision–this elitism of the majority should not stand! We should certainly consider the value of the vote of the underrepresented communities, which is evident by their not voting in record numbers. Obviously, his delegate-count is based on some kind of “Popularity contest”–are we seriously going to, as Democrats, fall for that?

Uh, well, I say, “Yes we can.”

Wait!! I thought Josh, Markos and Arianna were all getting funded by George Soros. That’s what Rush Limbaugh told me!!!

And who gamed the system to allow 46 year olds to be eligible to be President so soon after puberty? This immature guy’s so unvetted, we don’t even know if he wears boxers or briefs !!!!!

(Thanks for the wit, Oliver; a perfect pressure relief cap to a weary day)

why I felt we should reinstate the poll tax. People are not thinking before they pull the lever, mark the x or push enter.

  14. Gravatar Icon 14 tjproudamerican

And don’t forget, Armando savages Obama BECAUSE he supports him!

Armando isn’t a sanctimonious hypocrite. Really. It’s just that everything Hillary does, he loves; and everything “his” candidate does, he hates.

    Well done Oliver Willis.

Are you snarking are or you serious?

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 LittleMac

Hahaha, I love it. The biggest drawback of this primary season (speaking for me only, of course) is that too few prominent bloggers devote enough time to ridiculing TalkLeft and Corrente.

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 Jen

Clearly, Jerry’s comment should be deleted and he should be banned. May I suggest “chattering” or “off-topic” as rationales?

    Techies Against Obama (TAO)

Hello fellow netizens. TAO has instituted a policy that will ensure that Obama loses. Whenever you type Obama in the comment section of any blog that uses a wordpress template, a red line will appear under Obama indicating that the word Obama is misspelled. We’ve done this to place doubt in his supporter’s minds that he even exist. As you know, working class people believe everything they see and hear. So even if they support Obama, after seeing the red line under Obama’s name several times, they will get frustrated and type in Clinton so that they won’t see the red line…and that is because Clinton is a real name and is familiar to working class people. Even though you could right click Obama and add Obama to the dictionary, working class people have no clue how to do this. BTW, were engaging in this skulduggery on behalf of Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Oxycontin…er…Cialis. Or was it Operation Viagra Falls?

    A man that lies

Loki, when you get done arguing with that fire hydrant, could you provide some evidence?

  20. Gravatar Icon 20 Quaker in a Basement

Evidence? Rev. Wright!! Rev. Wright!! Aiiieeee!!

    And blah-de-blah-de-blah.

  21. Gravatar Icon 21 Neida Rodriguez

You must all be for seating MI and FL, Good!

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 Duros62

Well, if he said he never met Rev. Wright, I could see it, but no.

Damn that Barack. He’s making everybody look bad.

    Oliver

When do you think BigHypocriticalTentHillary-Lover, the “pro-Obama” voice at Talk LLeft (sic) will let someone post this remark by Hillary, much less post it himself:

“”Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.” Hillary Clinton

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video_log/2008/05/clinton_white_americans.html

My guess is 100 million years after the end of time. Care to speculate?

I think the satire was better on the later Delorean story, but man, “The Great Orange Satan” is absolute gold. I hope Kos runs with that.

  25. Gravatar Icon 25 Batocchio

    Well played!

  26. Gravatar Icon 26 Porlock Hussein Junior

OW’s post is brilliant and straight to the point; but in the comments, Heru gets the prize for genius of the day. Maybe it’s just because I hate red squiggly lines so much. But really, H’s clever manipulation of the stupid working class is truly prime snark.

  27. Gravatar Icon 27 QrazyQat

Our last two presidential terms have gone to the guy who got fewer votes than the loser.

  28. Gravatar Icon 28 mitsy

This was the dumbest reason to say someone shouldn’t win. They have too many votes? You need to shut up. How in the world can you say he has too many votes especially when you don’t know the United States population. You sound like an idiot.
