Yes Cazayoux Can

Democrat Don Cazayoux just won a seat held for 34 years by Republicans in Louisiana. They tried to connect him to Pelosi and Obama. He won by about 3%. There is one more democrat in the House.

Clearly this is good for John McCain.

    W00t!

Cazayoux will probably vote with conservative Republicans on everything, though. Proably only a DINO (Democrat in Name Only) Zell-Miller-type could win in that district.

  3. Yeah, I don’t have any illusions that this guy will be marching with the progressive Dems any time soon – but a conservative Democrat is better than any kind of Republican. And they tried the old playbook on him and it didn’t work.

    Again.

Actually, while he is more conservative than almost all Democrats, he’s more liberal than almost all Republicans. He won’t be the most progressive person in the legislative branch, but he’s certainly an upgrade from before.

“And they tried the old playbook on him and it didn’t work.”

It’s is worse than that. The NRCC sunk in about 6% of their total cash on hand to lose a seat that is 6.5% more Republican than the country on average.

Also, it’s hard to imagine they will be able to convince a lot of people to donate to the party after this loss.

Next up is MS-01, which the Republicans have spend twice as much money defending a seat that is 10% more Republicans than the country is on average. Since Travis Childers actually beat Greg Davis in the preliminary election, there’s a good chance the Democrats will win this one as well. A win by the Democrats here could result in suicides by hardcore Republicans.

In my post, I meant to write “probably,” not proably”.

I disagree. I’d rather have a Lincoln Chafee than a Zell Miller.

Lincoln Chafee is no longer a republican.

Well, okay, but he was when he was in the U.S. Senate, and that’s what I was talking about.
