You can't tell me that when any one attributes learning styles and capacities to racial differences, they are not in themselves racist. I thought we were over this BS.

Recently, I stopped in New Rochelle, NY. Forty years ago I drove a delivery truck in that area in the company of black fellow employees. We frequented a "black bar" at that time and I enjoyed the experience, the comradrie and great chicken in the basket with hot sauce.

I made the mistake of inviting one of my friends to have a drink in my neighborhood (white) bar. We were both asked to leave. I was pissed then, and still am.

However, when my son and I went down to the lounge of this hotel, I noticed the mixed audience of young well dressed patrons (again, both black and white). I remarked how different it was those many years ago and how it has improved since then. Is it perfect? Hell no! But in my heart of hearts I thought it was getting better. That is, until all those old prejudices were revisited by some one my age- Rev. Wright. I am deeply saddened.

Amen.

I refuse to vote against someone. "You have to vote against X because they would be really bad. You have to put Y's name on your ballot because if you don't they X will win, and X is worse." I won't fall for it. It's voting "for" the lesser evil and I won't vote "for" evil of even a small amount.

I will only vote for the person who I think is best for the job, and if one of the major party candidates doesn't fit the bill I will find a candidate who does, however long their odds of winning, and vote FOR them.

I voted for Clinton in 1992 and was truly thrilled to do so. First time I'd ever voted for a candidate who actually had a chance of winning. But he lost me by '96 (and not because of accusations from the right, but because of what he failed to do on his own).

I was willing to vote for Hillary if she got the nomination. But she's lost me with the way in which she's conducted her campaign. She does not have the character needed by our next president. Some good points and serious strengths, yes. But overall I just cannot find myself voting "for" her.

Come November, whoever the Democratic nominee is, I'll be voting for Obama. He isn't perfect, I disagree with him on some points, but he is definitely a person I can support FOR president.

As Duros says, I haven't FOR a presidential candidate since Carter in 1980. Until now. I will vote FOR Obama besause he's the first in 28 years that makes me want to vote for him, not just against the other.

Lenny Bruce; Linda Boreman; Michelle Malkin. What's the connection?

The 10-letter word that Lenny got arrested for using in public, is what Linda DID, and what Michelle IS.

Look it up.

I for one am sick and tired of voting against.
That's why I'm in the tank for Obama.
I was a year old when Kennedy got shot. My (and Obama's) generation, got robbed. JFK, RFK, MLK. Now is the time to make amends for that.

Supporting something because of what it means. Something positive. Not hatred of the other, but belief in this one.

Amen, brother.

I get the sense that many people support McCain and Hillary because they don’t like the other option. Does that say something about them? That they are more driven by dislike and hatred than an actual position? Maybe it is because they feel they have no option. There is no alternative for them. But it is sad though. Sad that they can’t mobilize around anything other than what they are against. I hear many Republicans say, “McCain. I hate him, but he is better than the other two.” Sad. Just sad. http://angryafrican.net/2008/04/30/stand-up-for-it/
Isn’t this the time when people are supposed to say what they stand for? And America vote for what they want to be? Maybe people should start thinking about what they stand for. A very novel idea. Supporting someone for what they stand for. Mmmm. Think about it for a minute. Supporting someone for what they stand for. And not because you don’t like the other options. Supporting something because of what it means. Something positive. Not hatred of the other, but belief in this one.
