Couple o’ quick tips:
The larger the f/stop number, the smaller the smaller the hole (lens opening)= greater depth of focus. (points in focus from point A to point B).

Think of the flash as a garden hose. The closer the person, the lighter they’re gonna be. Use the f/stop to adjust the flow.
