Obama’s Untapped Millions Can Drown McCain
Tweet
Very little of Obama’s money raised so far, including the $40 million haul for March, is earmarked for the general election. Most of those donors aren’t maxed out at $2,300 for the primaries let alone the general election.
At the same time McCain is breaking or trying not to break the campaign finance laws he helped write and considering tapping in to the public system to make up for the anemic fundraising the GOP has had to deal with.

???
Consider them broken. McCain wrote the FEC telling them he was withdrawing, and on response from the FEC saying he could not withdraw, he said “that’s just their opinion.”
I hope Obama also agrees to public financing for the general election campaign.
I would prefer to see a huge diversion of donated money to the DNC, DSCC and DCCC, to build organization and to build much larger Congressional majorities.
As far as I can see, Obama would not be accepting much of a handicap, strategically. The convention is late, and the general election season short. Obama can continue his primary campaign right up to the convention, on donated funds.
I would be enraged if he did accept public financing. The DNC/DSCC and DSCC are going to be flush with cash, I want the GOP pounded into the ground and a lot of money will go a long way to do it.
I hope Obama also agrees to public financing for the general election campaign.
He’d be crazy if he did.
