Duros, by “Jacksonian” he is probably thinking of President Andrew Jackson in the 1820’s. Probably the best parallel to Jackson was Reagan in that he was able to convince Americans of his populism even as he gave government to his cronies. IIRC my history books his abuses were part of the reason the spoils system was dismantled for the civil service.

So by “Jacksonian” he means a “regular guy” populist.
