What a dipshit. But in his world, he must be right, because he gets to make those statements and live much nicer than I ever will…. Sigh.

  2. Cali Tejano says:

I’m not going to go hysterical like “typical white people” like Taylor Marsh and Larry Johnson over this.

Why don’t people like Matthews just come out and ask if Obama can win over the Rube vote and get it over with?

  3. Zython says:

So Matthews never graduated from college? That explains so much.

  4. Hattie says:

Expect lots more attention to regular guy stuff from Obama in the coming weeks. I heard him do a whole sports chat thing with Ed Schultz today on the radio, and he did it masterfully.

Now hold on. Don’t lump all of us who didn’t graduate from college in together.

  6. midderpidge says:

Get off the Matthews bashing. He has a perfectly valid definition and criteria for regular people. Bowling. If Obama would simply put on the silly shirt with his name embroidered on it, grab the sprayed rental shoes, and start rolling the ball down the alley, he could be “regular people”. What Matthews does not make clear is whether drinking slightly stale Buddweiser from the pitcher is mandatory for regular people.

  7. According to Wikipedia, Matthews graduated from Holy Cross(which is in Worcester, MA). Also, he worked as a speech writer for Jimmy Carter and after Carter left office worked for Tip O’Neill. One would never even know he was a presidential speech writer given his man love for Rudy and then John McSame.

  8. jr says:

Matthews thinks of himself as a “Reagan Democrat from Philly” and feels that justifies his Archie Bunkerism

  9. tom says:

What if you’re black AND went to college. Freak! Freak!

  10. mike in dc says:

of course, in Tweetyland, “regular people” just happen to be:
    white
    lower middle to middle class
    over 30
    mostly male
    religious
    hard working
    no college degree

hmm. funny how “regular people” constitute less than half the population of the country.

  11. Quaker in a Basement says:

You know, “regular people” like his working class pal Li’l Russ from Buffalo.

It amazes me how many “regular people” have vacation houses in Martha’s Vineyard.

Someone with his salary without so much as a Bachelor’s screams “wingnut welfare” to me. That’s what I was getting at.
