Way cool..especially for America today. I think this flag should be put back into use and fly under the US flag on the Whitehouse.

I love this flag and the history behind it. I am getting ready to reproduce this flag for a US Marine in Maryland that has been watching the HBO Series on John Adams. He told me that this flag is in that series and that is why he wants one.

  6. Rebecca says:

I saw the Join or Die flag on the HBO John Adams mini series and now I want to fly this flag at my house.

I think that this flag represents all that is good and nobel about our country and I would fly it above my house if I could find it. I looked all over the internet and sent e mails to various flag companies to no avail so if anyone finds a source please let us know. This flag tells it all.

I found this site today because I have been looking for this flag as well to purchase. It is the 6th flag down the page. I wish I could find a cotton flag, but nylon is the only one I have found thus far. Hope this helps.

I’ve been looking for the join or die flag – does anyone know where I can purchase this flag?

I watched and LOVED that whole series, and SOMEHOW at the same time, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why in my cafepress store sales stats for the Revolutionary War type stuff, especially the ‘Join or Die’ stuff was going nuts..

Clearly, I’m retarded. Obviously this series was a lot more popular than I thought, I just wish I’d have put 2 and 2 together and made a lot more of an effort to market my stuff to take advantage of it… How funny.

  11. JB says:

P.S. It wasn’t a flag, at least not to begin with. It was a woodcut by Ben Franklin that appeared in a newspaper – can’t remember with 100% certainty, but I think it was the Pennsylvania Gazette or some similar sounding name.

Sorta like the 1700s equivalent of a political cartoon.

  12. Steve g says:

I love the image, and I get the point… but I don’t think a snake is the best way to represent my country!

  13. Joel says:

    It is a nice flag!!!

  14. mike lauzon says:

Where can one get a flag like this?

  15. Pam says:

This flag is great! I also saw it on John Adams and would like to buy one for my home. It’s kind of pricey though.

  16. Nancy says:

Remember, this is not a Rev. war flag. It is from a cartoon penned by Ben Franklin in 1754. At that time there was no talk of separating from Great Britain. It’s a good 20 years too early for that!! At the time, unity was needed among the colonies to fight the French and Indian war.

  17. Benjamin says:

this flag is really cool i wonder it only has 8 colonies on it and why wouldnt Ben Franklin put his own home state which is Pennsylvania………..im really confused!

  18. Todd says:

For all of you out there, I will try to answer your questions about the significance of this flag. As stated earlier this was originally cover art for the Pennsylvania Gazette and at the time Gorgia and Deleware had plenty given to them from King George III so they had no interest in even questioning English rule. This is actually different than the flag shown in John Adams and that is because in that show all thirteen colonies were represented on the flag. I’m not sure why exactly a rattle snake except for the fact that it is a deadly creature found in Pennsylvania. Ben Franklin also shipped thirteen rattle snakes to King George III at one point in time. The eight seperated parts of the snake obviously represent the eight colonies questioning English rule. It was ment to illustrate that only together could anyone of them survive the power of England. This was not about independency it was about joining together to try and get King George III to treat them the same as England itself.
